Hey all, just got my first Android phone, and I'm looking to root it so I can free up some of the internal storage. I've tried several programs that haven't worked, so I'm wondering if anyone has a good method specific to this phone.

The model is U8186, the version of Android it is running is 2.3.6, the carrier is Skinny. If any more info is needed please inform me.

What have you tried so far? Superoneclick is a good rooting method that supports most phones (up to gingerbread). However I know I had issues with it when rooting a Huawei Y200 so you may have a similar problem.

To get root on a Y200 I needed to download a program specifically for the Y200, you may have to do the same. This program used some kind of exploit (not sure what as it was all in German) to push the superuser.apk file and then install a modified version of cwm recovery. I would suggest trying the program I used but it is very likely it is not compatible.

You could try looking for programs to root the Y100, or have a look at the specs of your phone and see if you can find some others that have the same internals (processor chipset etc) and see if their root methods work on yours.
