CSC files in Roms

Hi Everyone
I'm a newbie to the forums and fairly new to re flashing phones, I am computer and O/S savvy, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how you extract stock rom files so you have a visible CSC. file.I am trying to re flash a Galaxy GT I9000 to the stock VNZ rom
When I extract the roms I get a Tar file and SS_DL.dll.
If I then extract the Tar file I get a bunch of other files.
If I extract the cache.rfs file I get two folders system and META-INF.
Inthe system folder is a folder called CSC.
But none of the files in this folder is a "CSC.tar or md5 file.
Am I missing something? or is there some trick to finding the usable CSC file within these archives, do I have to change an extension? is there something I havent extracted?
This is driving me nuts! I understand the need for this file as without it a boot loop ensues.
I have searched every forum I can find and it seems everyone else always finds this file in the rom's no problems. What am I doing wrong?

Downloaded stock VNZ rom from Samsung to use with Odin

OK to use Odin you need a "Pda" file, this being " jvh_jv1_jv1" correct?
A "Phone file" which all the forums say is the "modem.bin" file correct?
And finally the "CSC.tar or md5" which is nowhere to be found or is it?
if it is can anybody tell me where or how?
Or do I leave this field blank, or link to another file in the extracted archive?

Weird, when I first responded to this thread your post was just "CSC files in Roms" with none of the other detail. Anyway, where are you downloading the ROM from? Some firmware is a single package, and only uses PDA.

You are the first person to mention that firmware could be a single package.
As such would this then negate the need to link the "phone" and "CSC" fields in ODIN? Or would all 3 fields link to the unzipped Tar?

As long as you download the correct firmware all you need to do is flash the .tar or .md5 file in the PDA section in Odin. That simple.

You can download a 3 part VNZ 2.3.3 firmware (includes PDA, Modem and CSC) from XDA developers
