Hi All,
I have a 2012 Nexus 7 tablet that has pretty much replaced all other browsing devices for me at home. Sadly though it now has a badly cracked screen and is totally unresponsive to any touch. It seems like no-one in NZ is really capable of fixing these (though parts are around online) and even if they were I'd guess somewhere around $250 would be required.
So here is the question - do I repair, replace with a newer version of the same or head off to try another tablet? Main uses are browsing and gaming. Other device for everyday use is a slightly ageing Samsung S3.
Sorry if this covers old ground about how Nexus 7 is basically unsupported in NZ...

have a look here and see if its still for sale.

I would look to buy a new device but thats only me but repaired you have an older device, is it worth it.

Thanks. So for NZ$100 seems like replacement part is the option? Looks like that simply screws on with screen and digitiser etc.

Yup, I have one in transit to me at the moment. Most things that can be shipped via Amazon global over $125 are free for a limited time.. I think the deal is still on, I ordered mine literally a couple of days ago

Just tried that and get "We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order. " so I'm not sure how you got it shipped without Youshop which is what I have to do last time I ordered on..

Looks as though Amazon has sold out, and it's now being listed as coming from another company (triplehooks). The one I bought was shipped from "Amazon global export sales". Bugger

Yeah as I understand it, Amazon policy is not to ship electronic goods internationally. And most of the resellers don't ship internationally at all.

Huh? That can't be true as they have shipped me a nexus 7 tablet as I stated above. I also could've bought a Roku 3 from them, and had it shipped, but decided to get that done through youshop to avoid customs/duty and bought a chromecast as well which they wouldn't ship internationally.

Long story short, Amazon definitely ship electronics internationally.

amazon/google play to youshop - just get a new one. the 2013 model is a good upgrade.

Yeah, we just cracked our 2013 Nexus 7 as well.

PB Tech quoted $240 to fix it.

It's a hard call whether it is worth it.

I just cracked my nexus 4 screen/digitizer (the two are intricately connected apparently) and it's gonna cost $270 to replace and fix :(

Seems the screen design of the Nexus lines do not allow for cheap digitizer replacement like some phones/tablets...
