This post is FYI

The last 2 weeks I had huge battery drain issues. the gsiff.daemon was reported to be 66% of the battery drain.

To put it simply geo news was polling the GPS so often it was sucking the battery dry, even disabling the location service did not stop the issue. Since disabling Geo News the issue is fixed, but it is not much use disabled, hopefully the fix the issue soon :)

It seems to be related to the new version of Google Play Services

i haven't exp the issue you have with mine - but i did go through a period time where battery usage on my s5 plummeted - i installed the snapdragon battery guru - changed some settings esp re syncing and it has helped.

might be worth a crack

Can't say I've noticed any changes recently, however I never leave my GPS on. I do recall Google Now + Location services being a very battery hungry combo though on both my S4 and S5.

On my S4 I disable location services (or have it on the very low power option) and I uninstalled Google Now. Basically location services take heaps of battery, and Google Services sometimes has dud versions that use heaps of battery.

sounds like you need to sort the app out rather than system I certainly have no issue with the battery.
