For all it's worth, Lightbox has a Samsung app, it's tested on Samsung. No one should buy an Android box on the "possibility" it may run an app for one platform or another.

If there's no guarantee from the manufacturer or developer, you are on your own - and have a box that didn't satisfy your needs.

I have bought 2 "4k" capable android boxes and found both were just rendering things at some lower res and then scaling it to 4k on the HDMI out. UI elements were all large and blurry around the edges and there was minimal differeence with its look then when outputting 1080p to the same display.

I complained and _apparantly_ when it does video playback that will be native 4k with the low res user interface stuck on top of it, but I didnt want it to play 4k video and I couldnt convince youtube app to give me 4k on it to try it out.

Blew my one up with a faulty AC adapter so cant test lightbox in it to see how it goes.

Does it have to be Android. Will you consider a Windows HDMI stick.

No "app" but the website works sweet as

Sorry MF, did not realize some apps were copyright material.

What Windows HDMI sticks are there?
If you get a Samsung player like this it should be compatible as it is a smart hub device. Although in saying that, Samsung's overly complicated site doesn't list what apps are available on their blu ray/ home theatre devices, only their TV's.

True - sideloaded Lightbox on an Amazon Fire TV. With the use of a mouse, I could get past the login screen but after "registering" as one of my 5 devices..... the App crashed.

Get them a Samsung Bluray Player with SmartHub. Then they can also have TVNZ On Demand and TV3 OnDemand. Netflix will also go on it when that becomes available in March/April.

This is what we just did and it works great. $160 on new years sales, but I'm sure if you have a look for specials you will find one for a similar price. Got the Samsung BD-h6500 and it works great with lightbox and the tvnz/tv3 on demand apps as well as Youtube etc.

I purchased a BD-H5500 and it appears that it is not SmartHub. It uses the Opera TV Store for apps.

I am still waiting on Samsung to get back to me as there description on their website is very confusing:

Now you have access to even more great content through Smart Hub streaming service. Enjoy more than 100 available Apps5, including popular Apps like Facebook, YouTube and AccuWeather. The Smart Hub streaming service provides a world of entertainment, information, social networks and more. It’s never been easier to stay entertained and connected from the comfort of your living room.

Now i see if you dig deep into the tech specs it says:

Smart Hub
No

Anyway it appears that the BD-H6500 will play lightbox but not the BD-H5500.
