Hi all,

Does anyone know if this applies for us in NZ:

http://www.samsung.com/us/galaxy/note8/Note7Promo/

Just wondering...

What happens when you enter your registered email address where it says "Check your eligibility below" and hit the 'submit' button?

Funny thing,

I might have used one of three email addresses to register my Note 7 (honestly can't remember). But for each of them I get "we don't recognize that address". Of course, from their perspective I might have "registered" with Spark, and not with Samsung.

That's why I'm wondering if this is a US-only deal, or if this is something we should be bringing up with Samsung NZ, or our carriers.

It's for the yanks only. Pretty disgusting of Samsung to be honest, every Note 7 owner was impacted, yet they select a single country. If I could swear on here I'd be blowing a fuse. Going to sell my S8+ and get the Pixel XL 2 out of protest.

I tried putting my Samsung email down, doesn't work. Seems US only at this point.

It's worth noting different countries received different compensation.

In NZ, owners could have kept the 128gb SD card, recieved a J5 replacement phone free, and recieved a $50 prezzy card.

Not exactly a bad deal.

When I bought my Note7 from VF, I got a $300 discount by buying it on a two-year, interest-free calling plan - plus a 256GB memory card thrown in.

When I had to give the replacement Note7 back, unsurprisingly I was able to keep the memory card - but also the charging adapter plus the cable and all the cable adapters. Plus keep the free J5 I was given to tide me over between the first and second Note7's (which I kept new and unopened and sold on Trademe).

Then at the end Samsung NZ gave all NZ Note7 owners a $100 consolation gift - which I eventually received as a credit to my VF account.

Although I would have preferred to have had an ongoing non-fiery Note7, I felt I came out of the whole thing quite well.

I didn't take up the J5 offer and held out for the (short lived) replacement. I did however keep the chargers cable etc. I have to admit to getting 2 x $100 gift cards, I assume because I was inconvenienced twice. So I bought the S7 Edge and persevered without the SPen. Sadly after less than 12 months, my S7 has developed the dreaded pink line down the screen. A restart has fixed it on the 2 occasions it has happened.

I just hope that the Spark trade in is going to be worth my while, if I decide to bite the bullet.
