Hi,
So I'm thinking of bringing in a cheap Samsung Galaxy Note 5 from America. It's got a bad ESN (poss why it's cheap?) as there's an outstanding balance but being sold legit on ebay and I'm not clear on what is and isn't possible. I always thought that a bad ESN from USA was only a problem in the USA and in NZ our networks are unrelated and it'll be fine. It is listed as locked to T-mobile so I need to get it unlocked.
I emailed in to fonebitz in Wellington if they could unlock it (I have a picture of the IMEI number on the phone screen) and they said yes. I asked if having a bad ESN made a difference and they were all 'omg we can't unlock that for you man' - so is that a moral thing or is there a technical reason why the ESN status in a different country affects the ability to unlock it?
If it's a moral/legal thing is there another way/site that does unlocks for phones with bad ESN's?
Cheers
