My wife's S7 has given up the ghost pretty much.

I need to find a suitable replacement. Easiest is an S9, she has had 5 Galaxies and would be the easiest to transition, however at $1400 both of us are looking sideways and thinking it's a bit much.

I am keen to hear about suitable alternatives.

Size and weight need to be pretty similar, she doesn't like change that much and bigger will likely initially, at least, cause issues.

Battery life, decent camera, good screen and stable are all priorities.

Ideally would like to spend less than $1000, $800 would be ideal.

1 Day has the S9 with a 1 Year Warranty but I assume it's parallel imported and I don't want warranty hassles.

This one is simple - OnePlus 6.

Same sort of size, good camera, great performance, nearly stock Android (Android P currently) and a good price.

5.8 to 6.2" is a fair size increase. I'll check the actual dimensions and weights but otherwise, it looks pretty good. Also it's a lower resolution screen, heavier. No SD Card slot? I didnt even know Androids did this? :) Smaller Battery as well.

Nokia 7 plus. Excellent battery.

Size is slightly bigger... and its in your budget.

Ive had mine for 3 months now and its one of the best phones ive had, i did get 4 days out of a charge but typical usage i get 2+ days.

Small / nearly no bezels - also the SD card requirement isn't really an issue as 64gb is enough for most people given cloud is a thing. In all, it is nearly the same size as the Galaxy S7 but personally value for money it is better currently than the other phones around that price range.

Smaller battery shouldn't be an issue either - processors have become more power efficient. The screen on them is also very good and is AMOLED also. Dash charging is awesome too.

+1 for the OnePlus.

Dash Charging is One Plus's fast charging method. Exactly the same as Oppo's VOOC, just with a different name. IMO it's superior to Qualcomm's options but either work well.

I couldn't go back to using a phone without fast charging after having the OnePlus 3 with dash charging.

Oneplus 6 is definitely a good choice for flagship replacement. The 6T is also released and has a few niceties added like an in-screen fingerprint reader, bigger battery and a teardrop notch but it gets rid of the headphone jack if you liked having that.

Only (potential) downside to it really is the OS as it's still a custom android and not stock or Android One. Oneplus has had some privacy allegations against it, depends on your trust level with a company based in Shenzhen. It's otherwise quite quick and customizable, it also has no issues with custom roms as they allow it pretty freely.

Other options would be the Nokia line, 7 plus or the new 7.1

I've got a OnePlus 6 and my wife has a Nokia 7 Plus. While I think the latter is a good phone, and offers very good value for money, from extensive use of both I don't believe that they're phones I'd place in the same category.

The additional price for the OnePlus is worth it if you're after a top-quality device, especially if you're coming from a previous-model flagship phone like your wife is.

And, yep, while the OnePlus is not pure Android, the skin is light and the additions Oxygen does provide are generally positive and useful (none of the true bloat that comes with a Samsung handset).

I also wouldn't worry too about comparing screen sizes of the S7 vs OnePlus - yep, it's bigger than both the S7 and S7 Edge, but it's actually a real easy hold given its shape, small bezels and screen ratio. The 7 Plus isn't that much smaller, despite its smaller screen size, given the larger bezels (especially top/bottom).

Edit - given the OP says camera performance is an important consideration, forgot to add that the new OS that came out for the OnePlus 6 this week brought with it the Night Sight mode from the 6T https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6-oneplus-6t-get-working-night-sight-mode-from-pixel-3/ . Haven't used it yet but it certainly seems to produce some impressive results.

Yeah I am kind of leaning toward either the V30+ LG or the OnePlus 6 I think. We bought a cheaper Chinese phone 6 months ago for a staff member and whilst it's mostly working ok now, we had a fair number of issues with it, mostly power management.

Isee it being discussed in another thread as an ongoing issue as well.

I need my wife complaining of bugs in her software like a hole in the head.

The A series is the cheaper version of the S series if you want to stay Samsung and the latest one has the infinity screen. Personally I would wait (if possible) and trade it in on a Galaxy X. The release offers normally make the new model a good deal despite the scary sticker price. The Note 9 was practically free after you sell the free stuff, take the discounts and trade in your old phone with the boosted trade in value.

No, not really. Would prefer, but given it's had a cracked screen for 18 months, I'm thinking it's less of an issue.

I've got a Oneplus 6 and it's great. I don't have power management issues, I generally have about 50% battery at the end of my work day.

The os is very clean and not buggy so I wouldn't have concerns about it.

My wife's daily driver has been a Oneplus 5 for a year and she loves it. She would have another OnePlus in a heartbeat.

I would never recommend an LG phone. After all the boot loop issues that plagued their earlier phones, and with the extremely poor way they managed it (Slash did nothing about) I would be very cautious about buying an LG phone.
