My girlfriend has a Samsung Galaxy 550 and just today, she received a text message while trying to load the (Google) calendar.  The phone locked up for a very short while, but now she can't access the calendar anymore.  When she goes to open it, it just does nothing.

We tried turning it off, pulling the battery out.  Pull out both the SIM card and the memory card, all to no avail.

Has anyone else experienced this, or know how to fix it?
Alternatively (and preferred by her), does anyone know of any other good calendar applications for Android 2.1?

Thanks in advance.

I use Jorte.  Free from the market.  And you can pick which calendar you want it to sync with.  So I have my Google calendar selected.  I also use Smooth Calendar as a widget on my homescreen, selecting Jorte for it to use - essentially giving me the Google calendar again :-)

Can you not uninstall it?  Or, could you go to some other Google app where you've got to login, maybe you just need to login again and then it'll kick into life.

I'll suggest that to her too, thanks.

Try clearing the calendar cache (through the phones Settings|Applications|Manage Applications|All I think) - hit Clear cache and also Clear data then try running it again. Will hopefully come right after that.
