Hi Guys,

I thought I would drop a quick post regarding my latest conquer. For all out there who have purchased an i9000T from Telecom you might have had experienced from audio issues. I am one who did and exchanged my faulty i9000T for another I9000T.......

Now Telecom in there wisdom to fix this problems released Froyo 2.2 on Kies to see if this fixed the issue, which it doesn?t! I rang Telecom and they said I was to upgrade to this file.

So after upgrading my i9000T and still having a phone that sounds like PoO and a lot of lag I decided to open up this can of worms THE I9000T. I have formatted to an I9000, I9000B and being a novice thought I had killed it. However that wasn?t the case.

For all out there, 2.2 Froyo is awesome compared to 2.1. I recommended upgrading but adding some add-ons to the mix.

Currently I am using:

PDA: I9000TDOJP2

PHONE: I9000BVJJPA

CSC: I9000TTNZJP2

TO fix the lag issue, use the modem file I9000BVJJPA. This has doubled the speed of my phone without rooting the device and much better battery life. This is an 850 MHz file.

The CSC file is specific to NZ, I have continued to use this only because of the personalised Telecom rubbish by I am intending to change it to I9000XXJPY.\

This is all done through Odin, PIT file to use is 512 if you do a single file upgrade of JP2-JP2-JP1. 803PIT on for single if you are changing the Modem or CSC files.

It took me half a day firstly to read a thousand forums and understand what I was doing. Backup you files as it will reformat if you do the full 2.2 JP2 upgrade.

Cheers

thanks for you post detailing your findings - im running a telecom i9000T as well and have been struggling to understand what files to use to upgrade to froyo

im hoping to use Odin to upgrade using the three files you listed above - however i have only been able to find the 512.pit file, and the single file I9000TDOJP2 from samfirmwares.com, ive been unable to locate the I9000BVJJPA modem file, nor can i find the CSC: I9000TTNZJP2

would you be able to list links to download the three individual files you listed? or perhaps share your files on multiupload.com or another online site?

thank you for your help!

Hi team,

No issues, the forum on XDA will give you the full download:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=887524

Remember to backup as you will have your device reformatted. Also to note, the audio issue that Telecom had is fixed on 2.1 Eclair not on 2.2 Froyo as this is still in Beta.

I am changing my device to Gingerbread today using the below:

Firmware Base: XXJPY
Version: 8.0
Kernel: Advanced Voodoo 5 Final v69.3

The firmware still works on the 850, your phone on startup will say i9000 not i9000t. The modem file will remain, you will need to program the WAP/GPS something settings.

Odin 1.3 or 1.7 is okay. If you use Powerarchiver you will get the single .tar file that will do PHONE/PDA/CSC.

hehe, you sparked my curiosity - spent all yesterday reading up on this and ended up doing the same - flashed on Darky'y v8 Gingerbread themed ROM wiith all the extras - reflashed the i9000bVJJPA modem over the top to reenable 850mhz radio.

all seems to work well, sms AND MMS works very fast, call quality seems crisp and clear no distortions (yet), connects to Kies via USB no problems - detects every time, wifi and 3g/HSDPA work fine, and even battery life seems improved from plain vanilla XXJPY

have not tested GPS yet, will try this out soon. was pleased to not lose all my accounts/phone data etc - technically if i wiped the lot the phone would be even faster again. as it is its quite lag-free even with no lagfix enabled, much faster than DOJP2 Froyo 2.2

will keep testing this out - thanks for your posts and links

Wait is Darky trying to claim his Rom is Gingerbread?

nah, gingerbread themed, not actual gingerbread. graphics and icons, and certain themed apps. its still 2.2.1, just a bit more fun to use.

im definitely looking fwd to the proper port of the NexusS 2.3 onto the SGS

Gingerbread look and feel. For i9000 users the Darky RON is by far the best on the market. Awesome speed, apps. By far the best on the market.

Some screen shots from my i9000T on steriods :)

Everything is working great, had to input the APN for Telecom so I will keep it as is. The GPS settings I think is faster.

So all I have to do remove the lag on my Telecom branded 2.2 Galaxy S installed from Kies, is flash the Phone(Modem) I9000TDOJP1 with the I9000BVJJPA downloaded from here?
