Hi,

I am in the proces of upgrading firmware on my Samsung I5503 with Android on Telecom XT, going from 2.1 update 1 to what I assume is 2.2.

The upgrade was available through Kies, but I am now well into my second hour of the Android dude sweeping my screen.

Should I be worried that it is taking so long?

Kies is the latest version, updated last week.

2.2 as I understand it has not been officially released for the galaxy 5 but is due in March, however there are pleanty of unoffical roms available.

The whole upgrade process usually takes 10-15 minutes.

Post back if you think you've bricked your device and i'll see if I can help.

Thanks, but doesn't look like I have bricked it, looks like it is all ok.

This upgrade came up as standard through Kies as an upgrade from PDA:JJ3/Phone:JJ3/CSC:JJ3(TNZ) to PDA:KB1/PHONE:KA2/CSC:KA2(TNZ).

I have plugged back in and it is asking if I want to do this upgrade again... I am hesitate given the aforementioned 2 hours + of the dude sweeping.

At least my phone is nice and 'clean' now. :)

That's good news - I don't know what the update is as I have a custom rom on my galaxy 5 so it doesn't show the update.

Might be worth another go - if you've got the warranty docs then worst case would be returning it.

Right,

It seems to download the firmware fine, but when the Downloading screen (with the dude sweeping) comes up on the phone, Kies seems just to hang at 'Connecting'  with the circle of arrows spinning next to the pic of my phone.

Got there in the end, thanks for the help Nirotech.

Phone stil, says it is version 2.1 update 1, so not exactly sure what has upgraded. Numbers in Kies though are the newer ones as per my earlier post (PDA etc)
