So after Motorola left me gutted with no official 2.2 upgrade i have no choice but to root and install a custom rom for my Milestone.

I made the mistake of installing a rom for the Vodafone version Doh!, but luckily i managed to flash it back to the Telecom XT stock setup.

Which roms for the Milestone XT version would you guys recommend i use?

I finally got around to trying out a rom and am using cyanogenmod 7.
Atm it seems alright, reception may be a little bit weaker than usual, but I have found that with milestone and XT anyway.

awesome please keep me informed how all the features perform, just curious that this rom indeed caters for 850/2100?

It doesn't but you can install the Thai baseband zip file via open recovery.

Features are good, can lag a bit sometimes but CM7 is all and all a lot better than 2.1.

I've got my milestone running one of the leaked Moto 2.2.1 builds. Much better than the stock 2.1.

Battery life is nearly doubled :) I'm also overclocked using setCpu to run between 250 and 800mhz, that made it much snappier, and I think improved battery life even more since it drops to 250mhz when idle.

I'm getting tempted to try something else soon, maybe CM7 or one of the other CM7 based roms.

The official moto retail froyo ROM for Brazil works well for me.  No DSI errors either yet.. (6 weeks of use)..

Did you ever install Cyanogen lolcano?
Just did an update to the latest rom and it's much better than the one I had from March or April.
