hey guys
just got a new android phone and this has been bugging me and can't seem to figure it out

i've imported my contacts from my phone, selected that it only shows contacts in my phone memory and that works fine in the normal contacts part but when i go to messaging and select a contact there is a double up of each contact eg
adam
adam
bill
bill
etc
etc

why is this? it shows both sim and phone memory

is there anyway around this?

I think you can sort this by logging into your google account and sorting your contacts there.

Edit, ok re read your message and you are not keeping your contacts in google.

Sure, either keep your contacts on one or the other not both. If you keep them on your phone only, just back them up regularly... Keeping them on the SIM is nice though if you need to keep switching phones.

Ditch the SIM contacts completely and keep everything synched in Google. It is kind of the point of the Android contacts system.
If you need to put your sim in another phone, deal with that when you come to it.

SIM contacts are a throwback to old school phone OS systems without any synching.
Also they contain much less data. In google you can store multiple numbers, addresses, emails etc.
Personally I can no longer see the point of SIM contacts, Phone lost=contacts lost
