It would have to be pointing the right way or it wouldn't be working . Difficult to tell skew from your pictures ,
it may be a little off , or a combination of that and an obstruction ie , leaves etc
Don't know how accessible your neighbours tree is , but if you can throw a rope over the branch  that you think
may be in the way & flex it up & down while someone looks at the diagnostics on the box , if it fluctuates then it's
causing you problems

Offer them the opportunity to fix it and advise them if they don't you will have it fixed at their expense as per your rights under the CGA. If they don't fix it get an independent to do the job and send them an invoice. If they don't pay go to disputes tribunal.

Brunzy: I don't get this. Doesn't matter whose tree it is , if your signal is substandard then it's up to them to provide you with a working signal , that's what you pay them for.
There is no way you should have to pay to get this corrected.

So taking that into account if sky put the dish up on your house and there are no trees around, then your neighbour plants trees, this makes it  sky tv's fault?

OR

Sky has been working at a house for years with no issues then a multi level building is constructed blocking the signal, this also is sky fault to fix?

Sorry I can't follow the logic. Also I am hungover so if this comes across as sarcastic or angry its not meant to

It worked with the tree as it is until sky tech replaced the faulty dish/lnb, so yes I would say the tech has cocked it up....

HaggisKiwi: ....
When you're talking about 'skew' do you mean the angle to horizontal that the LNB is aligned when pointed to the to centre of the dish ....?
...

Correct. Put it this way: without moving the dish, you can only move LNB in two ways: a) towards, away from the dish (not the scew) b) rotate clock our counter clock wise (scew)

To get the scew number as well as all other settings for your particular address and the sattelite of interest you may use: http://www.dishpointer.com/

Although from experience - the number for particular LNB may need adjustment as tiny little antennas inside the LNB could be bended a bit.

Fabian: Have you tried the connections on the back of the sky box, i had this once after a tech came out, he just didn't put the connections back on right and tight.

This.. except I was to blame as I installed in wrong aerial input after we moved house

Techie (independent contractor) was great, justified the callout on paper so i didn't get charged for my stupidity

Jesus, so much misinfo.

Not sure how it works in auckland, but the standards for sky charging are as follows - its one of three faults, the customers, skys, or other. If its 'other', you shouldnt be charged. The dish has been there for 15 years - tree warrantee for the tech co is 3 years, so its well out. The original sky contractor wanted to put it close to the tv so they could do the job faster - thats it, the only reason. That tree looks very close from your photos, its probably just started to get worse over time. If it was better before the dish was replaced, either the dish is out of alignment, or the tree has grown up further - Id guess its grown up further.

This should be moved for free, its not your tree, its a third party fault on an out of warrantee dish (dish install warrantee is 5 years, tree growth 3 years, at least in otago/southland).
