Once again there will no MMS support in this product due to the cost of creating software and development to make it work, also Telecom do not want a phone that uses a plug in camera
in which product? the Samsung A591 ???
it's a small monochrome wap1 phone. - no MMS because it was never intended to be a MMS phone. nothing to do with any telecom NZ decisions
the network wasn't ready at the time that gtran cindy launched.
there's very little markey in clipon cameras - better to focus the time and $$$ on getting some decent camera phones like the nokia 6225. which i think launches this week.
yes, and that really bites.
I have a cdma phone - but i also keep a second GSM with BT and GPRS because you just can't do that on telecom
in fairness, the blame rests with qualcomm.
There's been a couple bluetooth phones come through testing but they've failed miserably and would have been a nightmare to support - hence no bluetooth phones on telecom NZ
The 6225 is not due to launch for about another 3 weeks.
Some points to note , the screen quality is not that good when taking photo's however they are 640x480 pictures and when sent they look at good as the TX95c
The Qualcomm chipset in the newer phones support bluetooth. however Qualcomm requre the handset manufacture to license the feature at a cost , and at this stage the CDMA markets that CDMA handsets are sold in global are not big on bluetooth , hence why there is not many handset around , and even less that Telecom can get there hands on
something i don't understand
they Hyundai says the image is 640x480
but the images it takes are square..
how can the be 640x480 ( a rectangle) if the images are actaully a square???
The TX95c screen display is adjust and the aspect ratio is changed to display it on the handset , however when sent to a email account a 640x480 photo appears
yes, the blame for cmda suckiness rests with qualcomm
real phone manufacturers (like nokia and ericsson) cannot make a cmda phone without sending substantial amount of money to their competitor - qualcomm. Nokia have made a few cdmas recently, but i think sony-ericsson have stopped.
the result is most cdma phones are made by companies that never made a cellphone until a couple years ago when cdma was born.
hence there was many 027s with half baked software, bugs, and missing features.
Sony-Ericsson has stop making product for outside the US , as they said it is to much hard work to make phones work on all the different types of CDMA networks,
Also you will find that there is just as many bugs in GSM handsets as there are CDMA, however when bugs are found the operator and manfucture look at the pro and cons of release the handsets to market and sometimes decide that the bugs are not big enough to out wieght the delay to market
The cdma bugs i know are not GUI - they're usually functional (the phone turns off when you answer a call)
or missing a crucial feature (like no caller Id on sms)
also the many flavours of protocals and platforms such as MMS means that telcos need to choose a platoform or go all out and duplicate systems.
for all i know the same problem may exist in GSM, but it doesn't seem to be as much of a stumbling block for vodafone.
