LOL on advice from the geeks a few weeks ago who were all recommending Weber Q I recently picked up a secondhand Q2200 with trolley and cover at a very reasonable price for hubby (BBQ'ing is a blue job in our house cool )

 

So far it has worked great cooking food for the 2 of us, definitely not missing the 3/4 burner type we've always had in the past, love the temp gauge on the lid so we can see when it's warm enough and it seems to start pretty much first time every time whereas the previous Mitre 10/The Warehouse ones seem to require quite a few button presses and the odd swear word.  So yes, hubby seems happy with his new toy.

 

But don't get me started on the "I cooked dinner as I operated the BBQ................" argument! tongue-out

I also recommend skip Mitre 10 and find the Weber supplier in your area to get the thermometer and raised lid - from memory it's only $50 more expensive. I use the thermometer ALL THE TIME, would be lost without it.

 

 

 

 

accessories seem a bit cheaper at mitre10 e.g. the frying pans etc.

Might be a silly question, but do the trolleys come with the Weber bbq? I see photos of them with and without.

Yep, it's only the Baby Q that doesn't come supplied with the trolley - the two larger models are provided with the trolley (the feet of which do have a nasty habit of poking me when shifting our 3200!).

A Black & Decker workmate makes a good (and cheaper) alternative to the branded stand for the Baby Q.

Awesome feedback cheers...!!..leaning towards q 220 or 3200 with thermometer built in..just deciding on size etc..with stand etc 220 probly around $750...bigger one comes with stand for just over 1k..decesions decsions lol do go camping so may lean towards the mid size one..

I'm aware but botulism isn't the issue. Each hunted down boar must be investigated by law for 'trichina' by an animal surgeon before it's further use.

 

Being it's hunter I'm able to control the whole food process from the field to the dish. The kernel meat temperature is controlled by a remote BBQ thermometer. Nevertheless, thanks for your seriously considered comment!

We have the 3200 the MIL has the 2200.

 

They are both great, to be honest I could have done with the 2200 but when you buy the trolley etc for the 2200 you aren't far from the 3200.

 

Only regret with the 3200 is I can't take it camping with us this summer, I might have to borrow the 2200!

 

Definitely go for the deep lid and thermometer version not the Mitre10 version, it is worth the extra $50

We cook the following regularly on the Weber (about 4 out of 6 meals a week)

 

Roast Chicken

 

Roast Lamb Leg

 

Rissoles

 

Pizza's

 

Roast Beef Bolar

 

Sausages

 

I have actually only cooked a steak once on the Weber! (it was fantastic)

However, now I have gone Weber, there is no looking back. The food is just that much better from a Weber over traditional and you have so many more options, particularly for cooking larger cuts and roasts.



Cheers, that’s the feedback I’ve got from work mates who have converted, I’m hoping (optimistically) there might be a special after Xmas on a dealer only Weber.

Our boxing day tradition:

 

The Weber. Manuaka chips. 3Kg Rolled beef bolar roast, leg of lamb, pure beef sausages. Slow 3 hour plus cook of big meat items, meat falls of with a butter knife. Use mixed herbs, oils, salt, pepper and garlic as the seasoning before starting to cook.

 

Problem is people keep coming back the next year and telling their friends. Becoming victims of our own Weber success. Yum!!!!!!!!!!
