We live in Mt Roskill, in a newish house (5 years old) It's two storeys and we have a rinnai gas water heater system installed. Whilst our water pressure isn't horrible (I have lived in places that dribble water out of the shower), it's far from impressive. None of the plumbers we have had around seem to think anything can be done about it, but I am sure there must be a way to get better water pressure, anyone here had any experience with such a thing?
Well the plumber came and the result was pretty good. After cutting into our wall in 3 places we found the on/off tap for the water, and it was slightly not turned enough ON, and that increased it a little. He then said it was only rated to 350KPA and went to get one to 600KPA adjustable (the other wasn't adjustable for pressure) so that got me to 500KPS which was 450KPA at the shower. He also replaced the flexible hose in the shower for a larger one and now..
11 Seconds to fill a 3L Bucket down from 20 seconds and I am MUCH happier. It's still not as good as my inlaws place, but it's reasonable enough to not want to spend significantly more.
I struggled for an explanation why the tap on the side of the house was 25/L at 500KPA but the tap around the other side was 15L/M and 12 upstairs, but he sort of said there would be another limiter but he didn't know where and we might need more pipes or void warranty on tapware to increase it much more.
Interestingly Watercare say I am getting 1250KPA at the street, and 1200 at the house (Not sure where they measured it), but the max I can get is 500KPA at the house, I'll ring them to clarify. The new fitting the plumber fitted (Is that the Toby?) is rated to 600KPA.
