Hi,

I've just started receiving Script Errors when trying to watch something on the Windows Media Center Netflix plugin. This happens before whichever title I am watching starts. I have to click YES to continue and then I can watch the title in full.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? How do you resolve this issue? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Anything changed on your system? Any recent Windows Updates or application updates?

No. I turn off Windows updates on my HTPC and install them every once in a blue moon. I installed all new updates yesterday to see if they would fix the issue but no luck. Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Silverlight after reading that as a suggestion on the web but that didn't help either.

same problems here, become quite annoying. i'll post something internally - see if anyone is chasing it up with Netflix. The search isn't working either, btw.

Could it be related to the move by Netflix to cancel API access to most solutions? Not sure if MCE would be caught up in that?

I'm glad I'm not alone.

Netflix search had stopped working for me a couple of years ago. Very frustrating.

The script error just recently started for me. It seems like Netflix may have updated its app somehow.

It's ashame that Netflix and Microsoft can't get their act together when it comes to WMC, it's an awesome combination.

Might be time for me to give JRiver Media Center a try.

Pretty sure jriver (and all other software solutions) make use of the same APIs that are being retired. Your best bet is a media streamer like Apple TV, Roku etc.

You are correct. I tired JRiver Media Center and found their Netflix app even more limited than the WMC version.

I run a Roku on our bedroom TV, but ideally I want a HTPC solution for recording OTA broadcasts that includes Netflix (at a minimum).
I hate having to switch inputs just to watch Netflix, but the future seems to be heading in that direction.

My exact desire too hence why I have a HTPC which allows me to decode, watch, and record Sky, watch and record Freeview, watch Netflix, watch any movie and TV files I have downloaded, watch DVDs, listen to Shoutcast, listen to my entire music collection, and stream this all to two other TVs in my house via XBox 360s. There is no other solution I am aware of which will give me this all within the one interface.

But you are right, the future seems to be headed in the direction of fragmenting all this. I rue the day that Windows Media Center becomes obsolete.

Fear not - I think I have the solution!!!!

I am in the same boat - HTPC running Windows 7 MCE. I have been looking at a solution to the problem PLUS wondering how I can get a better Netflix experience, such as HD content, plus take in Hulu too. The end result (after spending days looking into hardware solutions like Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, and software solutions like XBMC, JRiver, and even mixed solutions like XBMC + HDHomeRun) is to change to Windows 8.1 with the Media Center add in.

This gives the following:

Live + Recorded TV via Media Center
Playback of local files (rip's etc) via Media Browser
HD Netflix (1080p via Metro app)
HD HuluPlus (720p via Metro app)

The ONLY problem is the change away from being WMC-centric to using Windows 8.1 Metro, and there is no Amazon Instant Video app (yet). I have yet to test what exactly works with a standard WMC remote, but I do know it takes 2 presses of the Green Button to start WMC in 8.1. I haven't tested navigation of the tiles in Metro, oR the usability of Metro apps.

But as far as I can tell, there is no other solution to get all this (in NZ that is - overseas we could just use a Tivo with Netflix built in). The closest is the SmartTV solution Raven uses, but I don't have a SmartTV, and I do have a HTPC.

The modern UI apps are not remote friendly so you will need to use a keyboard. What you suggest is OK if you have no WAF factor to deal with.

Personally I have an HTPC with MediaPortal for all downloaded content and Freeview with an Apple TV for Netflix and Hulu. To be honest with a Logitech remote changing between HTPC and Apple TV it is IMO probably easier then dropping out to modern UI and having to use a keyboard.

I end up with a single remote solution that is fully 10 foot driven and all of the applications just work.

I was having the same problem. Started a few weeks ago.

Last week (presumably after some Windows Updates were applied) I lost my netflix icon altogether.

Anyhow, I use media center reset toolbox. After clicking their "Apply netflix fix" and replacing markup.dll (again) everything is working again (without the script error of the last few weeks.)

Not sure if it's coincidence or whether this might be helpful.

Meant to add this is on Windows 7 64 bit

The Netflix script error disappeared over the last couple of days, but search still doesn't work.
