Just saw a 12 month special of $5.99/month for Hulu Plus with commercials on the Hulu website. Payment is with Amex, Paypal or credit/debit card, not gift card.

Usually I pay for Hulu with a gift card that I've bought online. However because this deal can not be paid for with a gift card, I thought I'd try payment with Paypal. I linked my entropay card to my paypal account. But when Hulu attempts to process the payment via Paypal, paypal states that Hulu has requested a US billing address (my oregon Youshop address is my paypal address) but still the payment was not approved.

I haven't found a way to transfer money from my entropay card to my paypal balance, because to do so requires a US Social Security Number and/or (not sure which) a US tax number. (Perhaps I can set up my paypal account as a NZ account, transfer money to my paypal balance and then change the address to a US one?)

Has anyone found a way to pay for this Hulu 12 month discount from outside of the US?

I only have NZ cards, entropay visa and paypal.

cheers

I've looked online and it is not possible to change the country of a paypal account once it is set up.
So perhaps 2 paypal acccounts, one in NZ and the other in the US.
Load money on to the NZ account and transfer funds to the US account.
Then pay for Hulu.
Anyone done this?

I hardly ever use paypal, maybe once in 2 or 3 years.

cheers

Hi

I have a US Paypal account and a NZ Paypal account.

I use the NZ Paypal account to manually "gift" funds to my US Paypal account.

That's what I do...  just remember to have funds in your account.  I normally top up my account so there is just enough funds to cover 3 month subscription, then top it up again when required.

My US account has a US Payoneer Mastercard linked to it..  not sure if this is required.  The billing address for this card is linked to my youshop address.

That is how I do it, it bothers you during setup of the US account to add a card or a checking account, but there are small skip options on those pages to let you do it later. I later added my NZ card to it but that doesnt work for purchases, has to be from the ballance in the account, which you cannot give yourself, so I use my NZ paypal account to send money to a friend which is my US one, and then pay things from that.

Still have issues with US retailers tho, as they want to address verify stuff and even tho I have my reshipper address as the US paypal billing address they will not process purchases to get shipped there. Works fine for hulu, US playstation stuff and microsoft tho.

So how did you get past the "Please Add a debit or credit card to complete your purchase" screen when siging up for Hulu after picking the express payment option?
I have already transferred some money to my US Paypal but the signup process doesnt show an option to choose existing balance.

I subscribe to Hulu (no ads sub). Payment goes via my ANZ credit card.

I've run in to the same issue. My entropay card with a YouShop address is no good.
I may have to use a gift card.

For how long have you been paying with the ANZ credit card?

Check your payment options in Paypal:

I.e.

1. Click on the "Gear" icon

2. Click Payments

3. Under "Preferred payment method when paying in stores", click "Update In-Store Payment Method".

4. Mine says "If you have a Paypal balance, we'll use it first".

It was awhile ago when i set this up. From memory I skipped the credit card details when I set up my US Paypal account but added the card later because it was nagging me all the time..

@newb
Hi
Tried your method, but got stuck at set the instore payment method, I tried my two ASB debit cards and my entropay card, but none were accepted.

Even though Hulu is an online transaction it still seems to want a US credit card to process the transaction.

Have you tried paying your Hulu subscription (on the Hulu website registration page) using Paypal?  I.e. Click the "Express Options" tab for the Paypal option to appear.

Your account says that it will use available funds first for online services.  I.e. if you select paypal as the payment method on the Hulu website, it will deduct it from your Paypal balance (if there is money in it), so there is no need to link a credit card in Paypal to start using your US paypal account.

To add funds to your US paypal account, just login to your NZ Paypal account and gift the funds to your US paypal account.

I.e. to gift funds;

1.Login to your NZ Paypal account

2. Click "Send & Request" link

3. Click "Send to friends and family in the US"

4. Enter the email address you used to setup the US paypal account.

etc..

Just found payment can be made with an Amazon account.

I'm yet to test this as I still have a couple of months left on my Hulu subscription.
