myfullflavour:Talkiet:myfullflavour:MindstormNZ1972: I would doubt New Zealand internet speeds are up to the challenge of 4K either. Maybe 2016?
More than 70,000 New Zealanders on UFB now.
I wouldn't be flinching if our entire customer base decided to watch 4k Netflix NZ content simultaneously.
Heh, yes you would.
Cheers - N
Feel free to explain why/how.
Different story if you're a national ISP but as a regional with our primary network infrastructure housed in the same building that we handover our UFB traffic, a sudden 20Gbps spike is not going to create mayhem.
Agree with Neil, I know its only hypothetical but surely you would encounter the below issues jsut before 10G, if not you have seriously over-enginnered your network for what I'm guessing your customer base is based on known market share and the number of customers in UFF in Tauranga. (I know you hit well above your weight there which is good!)
Your Netflix OCA is going to max out and spill to international (at around 50 users streaming 4K per 1Gbps of international)
Handovers, do you have multiple 10G handovers to UFF?
And your core routing - what sort of routing do you have that will process 20Gbps
At ~1000 users streaming 4k at once you will max out a single OCA and ~10G of international. (Taking into account IP overhead)
