I had to factory reset my phone over the weekend and lost all of my scans from the last 2 months so hopefully if there is an issue the places of interest are put out there somewhere.
Google Smart Lock remembered my password as I had no idea what I had set it to.

Auto log out again yesterday, still no option to scan when auto logged out, didn't have easy access to my log in details so didn't scan when out and about, only to hear that community case in my region.
Why the MoH app developers refuse to make the app user friendly is beyond me. They need to be moved on and replaced with a more capable public-focused development team.
Is your app up to date? I think two updates ago they added the ability to scan even without being logged in. I know it works as my Mum's app logged her out not long after but she said "it let me scan anyway". I logged her back in later.

Yep, up to date. Just logged out to double check, no option to scan.

it WAS there.
It went AWOL again with the share-your-details addition update.
Silly huh.
Taking this back into the correct thread ...
According to a recent NZ Herald article, NZ is about to adopt Apple and Google's automated tracing - "... could be automatically tracking us by Christmas" (full article behind paywall)
So presumably will be available on the Android version of Rippl before long?
DS248:
mattwnz: ...
I was looking at the iphone OS version of the rippl app and it does appear to now have this feature, but it has to be enabled in the app manually. The android version doesn't appear to have it
It is caked Rippl auto check-in. Based on not seeing a single person scanning into shops this weekend this auto tracking is needed if the government is going to continue to drag its feet over mandatory scanning/ recording
I am on Android & can see nothing re auto check-in. But as you indicate the iOS version does now have auto check-in.
Version history for the iOS version shows this feature was added in v1.1.1, released on 9 Nov (just 7 days ago), with changes to the Auto Check In parameters on 12 Nov (v1.1.2).
But ... it does say "for selected locations" so maybe it requires businesses to have a bluetooth transmitter or similar to operate (or perhaps it works off GPS to determine the business name) ??
At least a move in the right direction.

On Playstore, the latest update for the Android version is shown as 13 Sept (v1.2.1).
Cannot see an option to display the version number so not certain if mine is the latest. Has been installed since August and do not recall any request to update it.
Buster:
Current Android version is V1.5.1
They mean Rippl.
Although Rippl was designed to eventually scan the QR codes of MoH. Had they not got a MoH handshake and add the ability to read it could have been left fairly high and dry now. They kicked off for free, but was slated for a a subscription service to pay for the development. So only businesses like Wellington Council etc paying to use a rippl QR/Signin point
So happens they have had some international interest. And since gone free it seems.
PaperKite has decided to make Rippl free for everyone. Let's get back to business as soon as we can.

By the looks of the updates, the MoH has decided to be a bit more friendly than the hard stance they started with. And opened up the API after their initial show of interest request.
Much better than the 'we have no intention at this time' it started with
And it seems the auto checkin, may be Wellington only using zones.
How does the new iBeacon-powered auto-check-in work?
We are currently trialling auto-check-in using iBeacons at a few select venues in Wellington. Rippl users need to opt-in on the Settings screen within Rippl. Once auto-check-in is enabled then the app listens for special Rippl beacons (small transmitting devices) and when one is detected it notifies the user and checks them in. As with all Rippl check-ins, no data ever leaves the phone during this process.

My Profile > Scroll to the bottom?
People hear what they see. - Doris Day
Chris Hipkins was on Morning Report this morning and he still doesn't sound very committed to rolling out bluetooth tracking on phones.
I know it's not likely to be highly effective because the uptake would be too low, but I'd still like to see it rolled out because every little scrap of data can potentially help contact tracers to work more efficiently.
It'll probably be the usual stance. Much like the masks. (AKA 'social engineering' if you read the vocal ones commenting on the Unite against Covid posts about the mandate.) and like what the US sees.
Force it on someone, they will likely get all crossed up with social media inaccuracies (which are more visible than ones with) and revolt. Suggest it, and put the ball in their court with some mild public shaming tactics. And they'll likely do the right thing.
It is still mentioned in the app about page above. But with the news of the google API integration might be just a case of optional turn on/turn off built in integration

My Profile > Scroll to the bottom?
Yes, I see that in the MoH tracer app but there does not appear to be any 'My Profile' in Rippl, or at least in the Android version I have.
Anyone familiar with the Android version of Rippl know if it is possible to check the version number & update if necessary?
I guess one indication is that on PlayStore, it shows that I have the app installed, with no mention that it is out of date. But I am puzzled as the latest version on PlayStore post dates when I installed it and I do not recall applying any update subsequently.
Standard Phone apps manager (where you can kill processes and so on) will display ver if not easily found.
But if you are talking the auto checkin feature..

Thanks. Yes, what I was looking for. Confirms I do have the latest Android version (1.21).

No, was just interested in the version number. I knew the Android version does not yet have auto-checkin, which in any case only worked at select locations. Did not know those were only in Wellington until your earlier post. Possibly still in evaluation mode?
Would now make more sense to adopt the Apple/Google automated tracing.

According to this NZ Herald article (I know, I know, it's the Herald) published on Sunday, the Android/iOS Bluetooth API should be integrated before Christmas. Here's a quote from the first part of the article:
The Ministry of Health is now in the final stages of getting Apple and Google's jointly-developed, Bluetooth-based contact-tracking system working with the government's official app.
I won't advise on how you can read the rest of the article without paying for their "premium" (LOL) content, but I have read the article and it's quite promising.
My COVID tracer applic just updated on iOS.
Had update was available 3 days ago, but saw people were still mentioning about logging in.
In the new update, no account needs to be created, and there is no logging in to scan. Hopefully means no data connection needed to scan, will test when go out next.
‘If wish to enter personal details, takes to a website outside application, and log in there with email address, but looks like can be used without this for scanning.
