mclean: My money is still on the parking brake, not the pads/rotors.

I shall raise this issue with them. What do you feel is the possible problem with the Park Brake? It s a Pedal actuated brake

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

The parking brake is a separate cable-operated DRUM brake hidden behind the rear brake rotor.  If it's not adjusted right or if it's sticking in the morning when you release the pedal it can leave the shoes binding slightly.  The thing with drum brakes is that one side of the shoe pair has a sort of self-actuating action, so if a shoe is binding slightly it can apply itself more when the drum rotates in one direction of rotation and release in the other direction.

You get to the adjuster nut through a hole in the rotor.  But I'd want to be taking to the rotor off first for a good look behind (which they will do anyway if they skim the discs).

Or it could be something else completely!

Follow the Nissan dealer home after work.
Spend a goodly portion of the night reversing outside their house.
Rinse and repeat until the problem is addressed.

Another remedy I was told by a dealer was to take it up a hill like the Rimutaka's and ride the brake the whole way down to heat the brakes to high temperature to burn off material..... hmmmm no thanks.

Potentially quite dangerous also.  Unless you're running race spec pads, rotors and fluid, all that will achieve is a combination of boiled fluid, warped rotors and burnt pads.  Any of which will degrade your braking performance, potentially significantly.
Yes, it can be useful to do some decent braking from time to time to deglaze the pads, one hard stop from 80-100kmh should be sufficient to achieve this.  Just pick your location carefully to do this.

Just back from a long face to face meeting with the dealer, I have agreed to give the car to them one last time to get it remedied. They have said they are liaising with Nissan NZ and they will need the car for a week at least.
I have told them that if it occurs again I will not agree to a repair and in line with the CGA I will require a refund or replacement of the vehicle.
