Hi guys (and girls.)

I have MediaPortal 1.2.1.0 and EPG Centre 3.1

When i make an xml file, i can't input it into MediaPortal via the xmlTV plugin.
I have got xmltv.dtd.

If someone can help me, i would be happy

Set EPG grabber to create the xmltv file in "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\xmltv"

this folder contains the xmltv.dtd file, then it is simply a matter of pointing the xmlTV plugin to this folder.

It should be that simple, I don't mean to condesend but it is easy to get mixed up between the "program files", "program files (x86)" and "program data" folders, double check you have the right one.

It's just grabbing the epg now.

I read the readme in the folder and it says to unpack a xmltv zip into this folder.
I have got one, but do i need to put it into the folder to use the xmltv plugin?

No I think those instructions are to install the xmltv plugin on older versions of mediaportal that don't have it pre installed, I didn't have to download or unzip anything to make it work.

I do think though that the xml file must be named "tvguide.xml" for it to work (not sure about that but try it anyway) and you have to go through the mapping process on the "mapping" tab of the plugin, in the tv-server configuration to match your channels to the ones grabbed from the DVB broadcast by EPG grabber.

Only DVBGUIDE picks up programs and XMLtv imports them.
Is there some way of then getting those programs to show up in mediaportal tv guide?
Thanks

Whether you use "EPG collector" or" DVBGUIDE" to collect the EPG data from the DVB broadcast should not make any difference: so long as the xml file that these applications create is called, "tvguide.xml" and is created in "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\xmltv" (this path might be different on a winXP system), and you have mapped the channels in the MediaPortal TV Server configuration correctly then you should see the EPG data in your MediaPortal TV guide.

First off, what do you mean by mapping the channels?
secondly, if you mean in the mappings tab (duh) it does it automatically but there is green boxes next to like TV One (X whatever) but to them all.
even the radio.
if there is an app that can input it by bypassing the xmltv plugin i would like to try it and/or compile sources.

Hi PSlover14

In this case "mapping" means selecting the guide data channel to associate with the TV Server channel. That is done on the mappings tab in the XMLTV plugin. You correctly observed that is done pretty much automatically when you import that tvguide.xml file - basically all that you need to do is load your channel group, ensure all the mappings are correct then click save. A fuller step-by-step guide is here. You can also check out the MediaPortal wiki for an explanation of the settings.
