Mounting both LNBs close enough together to see the same orbit location is the problem.

What you are after is a stacker, such things do exist. If you have a dual output LNB and placed each into the input ports of a stacker you can get both polarities onto one cable but in two parts of the LBand IF. This technique is used extensively by DirectTV in the US as a subscriber needs to look at upto 3orbit slots in both polarities (they use circular polarisation) via a multiswitch.

Getting a stacker around this part of the woods, well aint seen them.

Cyril,

Re: Stacker/Destacker,they are around but highly un economical(Around $500/$600 each).Really for commercial jobs, but anyway hopefully the problem will 'go away' shortly
Cheers

cyril7: A few places have them, but they are around $120-$140. I suggest its cheaper to wait.

I purchased it a year ago, with 1M dish as I was experiencing quite a lot of rain fade on my Sky Digital, Sky wouldn't do anything about it, they said it was within spec.  So I told them I'm gonna rip their dish down and put my own up, and thats what I did, during very heavy rain n cloud cover my signal only drops to 70%, Quality 90% used to drop to 30% quality 50% so was unwatchable.

The LNB is a Universal dual output Fortec Star brand. Purchased from Hooktech.co.nz for $90  I'm glad I went this way since now I Freeview with good signal strength too!  Unfortunatley hooktech don't do them anymore, freeviewshop.co.nz had some Acer brand ones a while back, might pay to ring them.

With the advent of D1 the signal levels have increased such that a 65cm dish now performs like a 1.2M dish did on B1. You can now have rainfade free reception of D1 on 54cm dishs, 45cm dishes on D1 perform as well as a 65cm dish did on B1.
