OK. I see what I've missed. Take the two jumper pins you have on the 'DVD' and 'Video' yellow composite inputs and use them to connect 'Pre out' L&R with 'Main in' L&R. Then press the speakers button on the front until you get 'System A only'.
In the first photo you posted you have the jumper pins connecting 'DVD' yellow composite in with 'Video' yellow composite in and 'Video' yellow composite out with 'Monitor' yellow composite out.
Nothing is being amplified (that is you'll get no sound) until you connect the 'Pre out' L & R with the 'Main in' L & R. Looks like previously you had your mixbox connected to the 'Main in' and that alone was being amplified (no other inputs on the receiver would have worked)
I just looked at the manual, you will need to connect those jumpers as mentioned above. This essentially feeds the pre-amplified signal in to the amplifier. Once you've done that you should be good to go!

Ok. Seems to work. I attached the jumpers as originally. So pre out to main in...The "vcr out" goes to the subwoofer.
BUT...
I prefered the sound better when it was connected from my mixer straight into the "main in" on the receiver (so only the speakers & center). Seemed more clear then now. Now it sounds little bit dull.
Possible it may be the tone controls (bass/treble) on the receiver changing the sound. Use the 'source direct' button on the receiver. Should now sound as before.
Also, as you had the 'centre' hooked up too that would have made it sound different.
Yep having the Sub on the 'VCR out' will work fine though the Sub may stop working when you use/select the VCR input.
All other inputs on the receiver should work fine.
So are you connecting other components to the receiver or are you running them all through your mixbox?
Just so you know, it's not a centre speaker. What you have now is a left and right stereo with your main speakers and a mono left (or mono right) out of your 'centre' speaker.
As I said before it's only a STEREO (as in 2 channel) receiver. There is no need for (or processing for, or amplification for) a centre speaker. In fact having it attached will be messing up the stereo soundstage.... but for whatever reason you seem determined to use it. THERE IS NO NEED FOR THE CENTRE SPEAKER!
