M_I_C_H_A_E_L: Changed the Resolution to 1920 x 1080 and i got picture. But yes no sound from the TV. What do I need to do to get sound?

Thanks

Have a read through your TV's manual, it'll tell you which audio ports to use when connecting via a HDMI/DVI conversion. I couldn't find the manual online otherwise I'd be able to tell you exactly what cable you needed.

It'll either be this:
http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/4ca7b622041c3ab82742c0a87f3b06d0/Product/View/C1240

or this:
http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/4ca7b622041c3ab82742c0a87f3b06d0/Product/View/C1158

Based on the manual for the US TC-P42U2 you'll need the first cable, but I'd double check your own manual before buying either.

Grrr I hate that you can't link to items on the DSE page. Made the same mistake myself too. Just go to DSE and search for C1240 and C1158

You can, you just have to get rid of the session stuff and tweak it.  So:
http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/4ca7b622041c3ab82742c0a87f3b06d0/Product/View/C1240
becomes
http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/en/product/C1240

That's what I do, anyway.

Never heard of a DVI carrying audio? Out of a standard PC setup anyway.

It looks like your PC can't do DVI audio? In which case you would have been better off trying to find a DVI to VGA cable for the picture and a seperate cable for the audio, prob a x2 RCA to 3.5 jack.

Why on earth go from DVI to VGA if you have HDMI? DVI, HDMI = digital - no conversion required. VGA = analogue - conversion required so loss of quality plus far more expensive converter.

The solution is simple and has already been suggested which is just to get a separate cable for audio.

Just had a look at the connection options for that TV and you need to get the 3.5mm stereo to RCA L & R connector

Yeah that is strange I never heard of DVI carrying audio as well. You learn something everyday!..lol.
I remember an old computer my parents had that had a DVI-A output only. I kind of wondered what the point was?..
DVI was such a simpler time. Now where stuck in HDMI with all it's different versions. "Will this soundcard's HDMI output HD audio?"...."Or will my 1.3a cable still be o.k for 3d?.." ahhhh!!

As an answer - yes, your 1.3a cable should be just fine for 3D ;-)

Sorry, slightly OT again.
DSE also provide a permalink type situation on the product page you are currently looking at in the form of a "Link to this" button just above the product details (Circled in red). It took me a while to realise it was there... it actually isn't all that obvious.

It's exactly what bazzer does, but it's done for you. Smile

Which then brings this up:

OK, back on topic. Wink
