eXDee: Ah so you aren't in New Zealand! That helps clarify a lot of things, i was wondering how you planned on picking up hotbird etc over here.
When we say Freeview we means our main (and only!) free to air digital TV service. They transmit a standard definition picture off satellite (DVB-S), and a high definition signal over land (DVB-T). Perhaps it would be best to refer to free channels as 'Free to air', as using 'freeview' would confuse some people here.
So i imagine you wouldn't want a card like the HVR-2200 since this is DVB-T only, so probably not suitable in Kuwait (not sure if you've got any land based digital broadcasts). If you want HD satellite you want a DVB-S2 capable card such as the HVR-4000 or the Nova HD S2. If you want analogue something like the PVR-150 might be something to look at.
Try here for a list of free to air TV available via satellite over Kuwait and the satellites available. Quite a few satellites available so i imagine you'd need multiple LNB's, a motorized one (slow?) or multiple dishes to receive them all.
