CGNAT:
Looking a bit closer, can you recommend a VPS? Would $2/month get something reliable? I want to study this option a bit more. Thanks
Firstly, I totally agree with hio77 that your best option is simply to get an ISP that doesn't use CGNAT. But to answer your question, any VPS provider that provides an IPv4 address should work. You're only pushing packets around and that is not CPU intensive. If you need a NZ exit node, then RansomIT are probably the cheapest. Other than that, lowendbox.com tend to list some pretty good deals.
stinger:Thanks, will check these out. To put the current CCTV bandwidth needs into perspective, my Samsung smartphone only updates every 6 seconds with a still frame. So the needs are relatively small. I'm guessing that if I was to set up a VPS, the next thing is I'd find is other things to use it for! At some stage in the near future I'll upgrade my aging camera system to IP based cameras. Then my data needs would change for sure. The thought at this moment is to start out small and build up as the need/s arise.
