Ok, the latest update.

send.xtra.co.nz does work for Outlook when connected via my Ihug ISP. Although it's incredibly slowwwww. The web mail is designed to look like Outlook, but is slow, loads of extra info to download, but as a nice thing it automatically scans attatchments for a virus. Down side is, it';s using Nortons. Oh well, can't have everything I guess.

Her emails via her Apache phone still show the 50+ spams now awaiting too..

I might go and hide in my cave for a while.

In contrast, the webmail works fine and quickly for my wife and I (with no spam). It's a good thing too, because we can't send emails through Outlook (I get the blame too Prom).

Some interesting error messages while trying to send:
- "Remote IP is over the limit for messages allowed to be sent in a single day" (well, that's clever - put a limit on it)
- "Connection to server interrupted" (didn't your mother tell you to never interrupt?)
- "Server not configured for SSL" (why did you tell us to setup Outlook for SSL then?)

Not the smoothest nor friendliest transition I've seen.

Still not getting my personal emails through Yahoo!Xtra. Luckily I already had a divert to my work email, so I'm still getting everything.

Another thing that concerns me is the "Beta" tag on the Yahoo!Xtra PRO MAIL site. Should this worry me??

Webmail doesn't show my email even if I compose a message in webmail and send it to myself. I get some error about not being able to perform this action on an empty folder.

Still waiting patiently...

Yeah I find it to be way too messy to actualy be usable...and the Pro Briefcase only allows 100MB for the main account and 30mb per other user...which is lame, I think ill stick with (Mac)Mail, and Safari(To view engadget etc instead of viewing rss feeds on the yourbubble site). Why can't they make it all nice and neat and simplistic instead of ugly! Its just horrible.

I don't think so. If you don't like the format of the Beta site, there is an option to revert to the previous version (still labelled as Yahoo!Xtra PRO MAIL)

Arrgh!

Went to check my email this morning and got the new sign up page

But I dont want to signup for any new services

I dont want to have to download any software

I just want to be able to use the webmail interface as before

I see it is still available for some customers

is there any way to do this? - or am I shafted again?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if it's still necessary to change your email setup (e.g. send.xtra.co.nz through SSL) if you don't sign up for Bubble? There seems to be an implicit assumption that people will want to sign up on Bubble but I'm curious about the impact on those who don't.

My thought for the day... If we have issues with email and such, will the Xtra helpdesk still be able to sort it or will we now be referred to Yahoo! support?

Does anyone know how to set up Outlook Express so taht you are able to also receive mail for the sub accounts you create?
I tried doing this by adding a new mail account with the sub account details but does not seem to work?

Spotted somewhere else that any forwarding that you previously had setup to also leave a copy on the xtra server has changed to just forward. Do Xtra have any email servers, is the Xtra Bubble thing an "option" or have Xtra migrated their email platform to Yahoo?

Considering you don't get to specify where you want the software installed, this is probably a good thing.

just signed up this morning...looking good so far!

one thing i have noticed is that the new email client is VERY tough on SPAM. To tough at the moment in fact. It even blocking email sent from yahoo! (!)

While going through the set up there was a section about changing the SMTP settings and some port settings. I printed that off thinking it applied to me but on both laptop and pc I am able to download via Outlook without problem and without applying those changes. Have to admit the spam volume had increased over the weekend but today seems to be a lot better.

I dont mind the bubble homepage now I have it loaded with comic strips and rugby news.

Worked out why I was getting so much spam, the spam settings are all deleted. You need to go into Pop settings in Xtramail and set them up again. Man this is going to be a pain if eveyone has to do this!

As for the new smtp server, port numbers and SSL, I realised after I'd set them up and they didn't work that I didn't need to do that. It seems it is only for receiving a Yahoo mail account, not Xtra!

Man this whole thing is a real stuff up. I've spent heaps of time on it and as customers we shouldn't have. It should have been much more seemless!!!
