Any idea how I check carrier aggregation? Or how I can check that I am connected to the cell tower that will give me the best service.
(I know that 30Mbps is okay, but this post is about trying to optimise a connection that did operate at 70Mbps+ consistently for a week).
You're connected to whatever tower will provide you service, that is how it works.
Please refer to my previous post and post more information on location etc.

Located in Warkworth, antennas point towards Snells Beach. I believe the two possible connections are to Snells Beach or to Matakana. I think based on what one of the installation techs said, that I get the faster speed when connected to Matakana. Not sure if there's a way to see what cell tower I'm connected to or if it can be forced to use a specific one.

Warkworth area at this time will not be exactly ideal for the best speed you could possibly attain.
Fortunately @ 30Mb/s there will not be a single noticeable difference from 70Mb/s when browsing the web or streaming. That is faster than the VDSL at my house in the middle of the city, Don't make me start a petition now...
Anyhow, what's the point of your issue? @ 30Mb/s you will hit your datacap with in a couple of hours of downloading and not make a difference to your experience. Also running endless speed tests is a pretty big waste of data and making the general issue of shared bandwidth worse for all..
I used to get up to 50 Mbps on RBI. Haven't had that for years. There is only one tower I can access. My best speed tests are now around 30 Mbps (sometimes). On occasion they drop as low as one or two. Seems to be related to congestion.

Have to say, when CA wasn't working on certain bands on my new phone... the dips down to 30mbit were quite painful actually.
now that it's back to consistently 200+ the user experience is far better.
@OP i'd check the options in the modem ui and see if it gives you further detail about connected bands, 4G vs 4G+ etc.

I use an iPhone so like, I can't comment, always seems to work... In the end.. After a few smashes on the desk, reboots and software updates that break more things.
There's definitely a noticeable difference in performance between the connection I have now (peaking at around 30Mbps), to when it averaged 70Mbps.
When I log onto to the modem it says "4G", not "4G+".
My theory (which could be completely wrong), is that when the technician originally setup the dual MIMO antennaes, I connected to Cell Tower "A". For a week the connection was perfect, averaging around 70Mbps, but sometimes recording over 100Mbps. I'm pretty sure at the end of that week there was a powercut and since then the connection has not exceeded 30Mbps. I suspect from this point (for some reason), the connection was then made to Cell Tower "B". I understand that speeds change over time and more users come on to a service, weather affects performance, etc, etc. But something happened on a particular day - either at the Vodafone end or at my end, and the performance of the connection dropped significantly. Yes, I know, 30Mpbs is still a reasonable connection but the point of this post is to explore and understand why the sudden drop occurred and to try to get back to somewhere near the original performance.

work, and work to an expected performance level is very different though.
iphones tend to have pretty good carrier profiles so does not surprise me.

You have mentioned a storm, is it possible the storm hit the antenna misaligning it?
a tree moved blocking the signal path? (Leaves are the worst for signal propagation...)
The thing about LTE networks, is it's not a fixed platform, in cases that a tower is quite heavily utilized you might find you connect to another further away one or certain bands aren't selected by your device.

Okay, I understand your position, Please look back over the thread and see how people suggest misalignment, physical obstruction like tree and so fourth.
Do you know if it said 4G+ prior to the change"?
OMAHA 2 (VFNZ) had a 700Mhz 4G band added Sept 2018. Maybe you shifted onto that band?
