Are any of the RBI or 4g wireless providers offering static IPv4 addresses or IPv6?

I'm currently running skinny 4g wireless but fed up with ipv4 CGNAT.

Alternatively has anyone setup tunnel broker, NGROK, VPS 4to6 or that can recommend something ultimately, I want access to my network from a remote location?

NGROK works else use Cloudflare Tunnels which is free and quick and works really well!

Spark offers static IP's on their Wireless 4/5G Broadband as an FYI.

@professorjonny Yes for sure but when is another story! It is coming and so is Christmas 2035

We do static IPs on our FWA/RBI by default, and can even do a NZ based/terminated IPv6 tunnel over it if that's what you want, rather than having to use HE etc whose endpoints are a long way away.

I'm in a rural area and vodafone/ one nz reception is much better.

How come RBI is expensive compared to Urban 4g when it is apparently government subsidized? do they just make it expensive to limit people from going nuts or to pay off the network costs of upgrading the infrastructure?

Is there a reason they limit the hardware with TAG locked sims?, as we are forced to use Huawei hardware, when basically many countries refused to use them from spying concerns, guess the telcos are happy with end users being spied on!!!

In the urban / city areas far more cell sites to handle more capacity / users and 90% of customers would be on Fibre

I don't know how TAC locked SIM's fix that issue what hardware you use does not limit the bandwidth of the service, sure it limits the ability for one to put the SIM card in a phone, but you are still limited to the cap of the plan you are on, and it is semi useless in a phone as it lacks other services.

I know you can take your skinny broadband and urban Vodafone/ one nz 4g service into rural areas it is not geo restricted once the plan is active you can take it any where so far i have not herd of people getting their service chopped Vodafone once promoted users to take their 4g box with them if they go to the batch to take their internet and phone line with them.

You can get an unlimited mobile phone connection or less than the price of RBI it does not stop you using in rural areas it seems there is a pricing disparity between services and RBI people lose out.

Is there a reason why they do this, and is there an approval process or something, or is it just to force us to buy their hardware or offer unified service? we can BYO modem for everything but RBI?

In NZ it is not illegal as in law to modify IMEI numbers one can use AT commands to change the IMEI number of both Sierra wireless and Quectel modems to use them on RBI service there was a forum dedicated to it in Australia for their Optus equivalent service as our RBI I don't see why the restrict hardware.

Because it's a managed service, yes you can modify the IMEI and yes it does work, does that mean you should? No, they have access to the device, so they apply fair use management across the cell towers.

If you do this, and get caught, you will most likely get disconnected and blacklisted from using fixed wireless broadband services.

It's no different and buying $80 one plan and placing the SIM in a 4G router, yes you can change the IMEI to match a mobile phone and yes it will work, but if you get caught, expect not to get another plan ever again.

Its also why RBI pricing is different from urban.

Rules are Rules radio waves are not "unlimited" follow the rules or get a different service.

We have unlocked sims available on request, mikrotik and teltonika are popular alternatives to the standard Huawei and TPLink modems.

And unlimited available on FWA / RBI depending on available capacity at your local cell tower.
