And so it came to pass that I got the job of changing an XP machine for a Win7 one.
All is well except for the accounts package that is installed, which will require at least 2 upgrade procedures before it is compatible with Win7. The original media is missing hence the requirement to upgrade.
I had the bright idea of "imaging" the XP using Disk2VHD and then using Virtual PC on a Win7 box to test the upgrade process (coz you cant be too careful when it comes to accounts packages or the people that use them).
The Disk2VHD seems to work well enough and I was able to create a virtual machine with the VHD file in Virtual PC on a Win7 box.
The virtual machine even starts up and displays the three choices of user logins.
But the good news ends there, the mouse cursor will not move and I can not click on any of the user names. The keyboard doesnt seem to work either.
This also stops me from installing the Integration features.
I also tried creating a virtual machine using both a VHD and a VHDX file in Hyper-V on a Win8 pc, and each time I get the same result, a login screen and no mouse or keyboard.
Have I missed a step or is there some trick to getting mouse control in these scenarios?
