A friend of mine has a PC running Office 2007 and has emptied the deleted folder.
Unfortunately some of those emails are required for work and was wondering if it was possible to retrieve those deleted emails?

After googling this it appears that the emails themselves aren't deleted, only the entry in the index within the PST file.  Does this mean that it is possible to recreate the index entry and recover the emails?  If so, what is the easiest way to get these emails back?

The PC has only been turned on once (for a short period of time) since this happened so hopefully this also helps.

I've seen a few programs that claim to be able to recover these deleted emails but based on their websites I wouldn't trust them enough to install on a PC.

Thanks in advance.

After doing some more research (sticking mainly to Official Microsoft forums) it looks like this can only be done 'officially' if it is using a Microsoft Exchange account.

This isn't the case for the PC in question so I'm guessing there is no easy fix for recovering the emails.

Yeah, if you use Exchange there is always a back up copy on the servers.

And the Recover Deleted Items option in Outlook itself if the admin has configured Exchange to keep deleted items for a certain amount of days after they are deleted from the Deleted Items folder.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.
