Talkiet:
Sheesh - Windows 10 for me has been better in every way that matters (to me) than windows 8.1 (or 8, or 7, or Vista, or 2000, or NT4, or 98, or 95, or 3.11, or 2, or DOS 6.22, or DOS 3.3... or... Ok, that's as far back as my personal expereince with MS OSes goes - actually it might go further but I can't remember the DOS version numbers.
Cheers - N
In what ways are those?
Disk usage? windows 95 ran in less than 50MB. My less than 2 months old Windows 10 runs in ( just let me check my windows folders ....) holy bloatware batman, 17GB and climbing.
Memory Usage? My windows XP ran in 70Mb (and that's SP3 not SP1 or prior) while with 1 windows firefox and 1 edge window open and VMWare app turned off I am using 3GB of ram. Smothering smoke stacks Robin, I do believe you're right, it is bloatware.
Network congestion? Windows XP added a lot of congestion compared to NT / 2000 but nothing compared to Window X.
Pop up notifications - Seriously, how do you kill them all - even with the service turned off it's doing it.
Workflow ? if this were a STEPs programme it would fail, double the number of clicks to do almost anything.
Compatibility? With UEFI startup, co-sharing with other OS is difficult and booting off external anything presents some hellish problems of having to change BIOS / CMOS settings.
Interoperabillity? It hates flash, java, anything not signed by who ever, apps run from locations such as c:\ ( winpay, myob etc all need permissions sorted ) and portable apps need to be run from desktop.
Interference by MS - Only vista with its inital UAC issues seems or feels worse than this.
Advertising - Say what? This is MY laptop paid for by me - who gives anyone the right to invade my private property to serve up advertising?
Droppage of network tools ( Can you spell goodbye to telnet, and other similar tools?).
and the list goes on.
