If Silverlight isn't supported by Edge, which appears to be the case, then that removes the ability to use it with the Application Catalog for SCCM. Hopefully this is resolved one way or another soon. I see nothing in the interface that justifies the need of Silverlight so hopefully an update to SCCM will redo it in HTML5 or something Edge compatible.

Edge is a modern browser. Silverlight is not supported.

Edge can detect sites that require IE11 and open them in those instead.

This can be down manually or automated with GPO

Any chance you could point me towards documentation on making this work? As of SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 it requires manually opening IE11 and opening the link from there which is irritating.

Microsoft Edge will be the default browser in Windows 10.

For websites identified to use IE11 you will get two options:

Use Enterprise site list

Send all Intranet websites in IE.

In the Enterprise Site list, a new option will be added to open a specific Website in IE11

User scenario

User click on a link

Edge will automatically detect (based on the enterprise site list) if the link need IE or not.

Edge will open IE with the website.

Not real keen on watching a 1h15m video for this one option, the "Sends all intranet traffic over to Internet Explorer" GPO was all I needed, thanks, now working "correctly".

Doesn't that defeat the purpose for testing, because the online store does not actually have edge available.

I am running 10162 on my PC and Edge is running the best it has during all the builds I have tried. Have you filed a bug report?

windows 10 in general seems OK but the latest update i've had some freezing issues too. Didn't have that before this update.

ok so i disabled the XML DOM thing and the shockwave and am back GZing on IE ... old habits die hard

My issue with edge was that it didn't allow me to view https sites with non matching certs. A bunch of stuff I have to use a web browser to config is only accessable via https but uses self-signed certs. Mostly Ubquiti gear, but a few others as well.

Oh and a bunch of websites 'don't try' they do the "its a IE version.. insert banner saying it won't work" thing. Not the fault of edge, just web devs getting it wrong.

Whats in a name? if it does the job it doesn't matter if its called a program, Application, Widget or Thingy

Exactly this. It just used to be called 'software'. No difference.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
