Customer in process of upgrading to Office 2016.

They use Save as - > PDF in Word frequently.

Previous behavior in 2010 was to have the 'title' field blank.

The default behaviour in 2016 is to write the 'Title field' with the name of the document (not the 'save as' title).

So when you open the newly created .PDF, the title displayed/in properties is that of the 'wrong' document.

I cannot figure out how to get Word to either NOT write a Title field, or populate it with the name of the 'save as' document, rather than the existing document. Any ideas?

Google nor colleagues have been able to help.

Have you tried clearing or entering the desired 'Title' field for the Word document before saving as PDF?

Yes, the current work-around is to manually erase the Title field prior to saving.

However, due to previous behaviour not having to worry about it, people will not do this currently before sending out .pdf documents to the public, which could cause confusion. (I work for a large organisation that interacts heavily with the public).

On ours you use the file>export>createPDF.  Choose the location then you get a pop-up window where you can choose the file name as normal.
