Any recommendations. I'm not after super high end, but I'm doing quite a bit more slow and low cooking so I need to keep a closer eye on temperature.

I currently used a Weber Family Q, sometimes with a Smokai tower.

I was using a basic "stick it in" unit, but I'd be interested in something bluetooth for a sane price.

I've got a Meater which isn't cheap but works really well including giving cook times. I'll likely get a few more going forward to get independent readings off different cuts.

The Weber Q series of BBQ's are fantastic, but they don't do low and slow too well as it's not easy to hold the temperature low enough, and the burner setup means you cannot easily do two zone cooking...unless you setup some sort of heat shield/buffer system on one side. I use a couple o different probes. Webers own iGrill 2 works pretty well, and there is a cheaper version that has two probes instead of (up to) four. I also use a Thermopen for checking all areas of the meat are the right temp...but this is more suited for faster cooking (as most instant reads are). But anything is better than nothing so just go for whatever you can afford...most will read within a few degrees and you'll get used to adjusting cooking based on that. Low and slow is a lot of fun, before you know it you'll have four BBQs and a wife questioning the need for such things!

I've got a ThermoPro TP25, which I mainly use for non-BBQ tasks. OK value for money but I'm not impressed with the quality. TheBluetooth range is risible but I understand this is common on most Bluetooth thermometers; the claim of 500 feet is insane (I'd love to know if anyone has acheived this). It's got a min-max feature (tells you when the probe is too cool as well as too hot) which is handy for yoghurt making. Two probes which is handy (probes are the first things to fail).

PureQ is good, Inkbird are great (and regularly on special), Thermopen is the gold standard.

I've owned all 3, and happy with all of them, but in the end I wish I'd just paid for the Thermopen at the start.

Been using one of these from M10 for a few years. Works fine, software is slightly flaky on iOS but gets the job done. It's not so bad that I want to upgrade to something better.

Long time Solis Thermo user here. Up to 6 concurrent probes so you can monitor your BBQ and smoker temperature along with 4 items, and it shows a chart on your phone you can extrapolate to guess the done time. It's a few years old now so probably something newer and better npw?

One thing I would say - get one that has readily available, reasonably priced replacement probes. They are a failure point due to the extreme heat they may inadvertently be exposed to. The cables in particular are a bit vulnerable.

Yep. I have inkbird as well (off AliExpress). 4 sensor model (3 probes 1 ambient). It’s wired rather than wireless and lithium battery. App is ok. Can hook it to home assistant if needed. But app is easier

I use the inkbird 4 probe wifi. Works great and with Wifi if I can be anywhere and monitor those longer cooks. Only niggle I had is the wifi is 2.4ghz so if your mobile device is on the 5ghz network it would not let me set it up.

Looks like MItre 10 are stocking some of the Inkbird range

Picked up the basic unit to try out as it is pretty good value at that price. I'll probably order a 4 probe unit online for more complex cooking.
