Probably also get a Citation for overseas trips. :)
Range on that plane is 2,161 km (At Max Takeoff weight)... That might kill any prospects of international travel... Perhaps you could get to sydney if very lightly loaded, but why would you bother? (especially if you live in Auckland). Heaps of commercial flights serve the route, they have higher air speed, and probably more comfortable seating in upper classes. Plus US$3.4m buys a lot of Commercial flying.
I think the recreational value in piloting a plane for three hours over the ocean would be somewhat low.
Finch: I'm buying a new laptop if I win tomorrow.
When I win tomorrow, I'll buy you one!
I just see buying a lotto ticket as a donation to charities. Although with making an actual donation to a charity, you probably get a better return, as many can claim back 33% back.
Do most people here just buy online these days, and buy a lucky dip. Or do people choose their own numbers?
I just get random numbers. If you have your own numbers (ie, birthdays or whatever) you would feel like you need to get it every time in case they win the time you don't get it. I only get it when the Powerball reaches $15 million and above otherwise it's just too much money to throw away on it every week. So after tonight I won't get it again for a while.
As for what I'd do if I won big, all the usual stuff initially. Pay off some bills/student loans etc, help out family, go on a holiday and probably buy a house which with the way the market has gone nuts never looks like being a possibility for us without some sort of windfall like this.
We play our own numbers, it costs $7.20 a draw and is pretty much our only gambling.
When the prize gets over 30 million we also buy a lucky dip.
Fiber to my house!
Build a house where there's fibre!

I think Dot Com paid about $100,000 to get fibre to that mansion he used to live in.
Like many others, I only buy the occasional Powerball lot when there is a sizeable must-win jackpot. I wanted to have a go at the 44 mil so I can get my tail, but there is no outlet near my home and I am not going into town today. So I finally registered on-line and bought my first-ever virtual ticket. The only thing is, I can find no sign of my numbers. I can see my ticket, so I know the sale has gone through, but unlike the paper lot, I cannot view my lines so I don't know what my randomly-selected numbers are. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

I can see my tickets, and the lines, just like a paper one. Just click the drop down arrow next to your name, choose My Tickets, then click on the ticket in the resulting list and it will show you.
You should definitely be able to see the numbers for your ticket.
I know I can when I log in.
Go to view Tickets- it shows you a table of the ones you have bought.
Clicking on one of those lines should show you the full ticket below.
I was a little worried about having an online ticket the first time I bought one: "What happens if they change the numbers on my ticket after I've bought it. How do I know they haven't?"
I've never bought a ticket.
Husband does.
He won $1400 once. So, work out all the years x cost of weekly ticket. No he didn't win $1400, he recouped a bit back is all.
In all these years "my numbers" have never come up, best I have had is 2 numbers.
So I have saved the money instead and not become the likes of the pokie machine people, desperately clutching my winning handle (sorry, ticket) and expecting to win it all back.
I look at it as entertainment. For about the same price, I could buy a movie ticket and get 2 hours of escapism, but for the price of a Lotto ticket, I get to daydream for days about what I would do with my winnings. They say dreams are free, but I reckon they cost $14 for a power dip.
If you don't buy a ticket, your chances of winning are zero. If you do buy a ticket, your chances are almost zero. But someone will win it.
But the big news in NZ, is someone won the $44 million. Anyone here? Bit of a pity it was't spread out IMO. It is sort of lost though in the news.
