That looks to be the one, From what I can see here it appears to be ADSL1 only, No upgrade scheduled as far as I can tell and it doesn't look like its fibre fed either so that will be the big issue for getting it upgraded.

It's a RBI wireless area so can potentially get that. RBI wireless is the regulated offering replacement for rural areas such as the one you're in where upgrading copper services is simply not economic.

Cheers for that,

I don't really know anything about RBI Wireless. Have you got a link for a coverage map, and which ISP's I can look up speeds/Costs etc from? I didn't think it was an option here. We don't get Cell coverage if its delivered by that? :-(

The regulated RBI offering is provided by a number of providers. Ultimate Broadband are liked by a lot of people on here.

Just a heads up, you should be able to get the "sync speed" from the DSL router.

Log in to it (Google instructions for your particular model) and try and find a status page.

Here's an example from my ancient XTRA! branded ADSL1 router, which is connecting at 7mbps (positively zippy for ADSL1). http://puu.sh/kM3gr.png

As you can see I'm getting a shy over 7mbps, so I would expect 6-7 mbps in practice.

In reality I get down to 1mbps in evenings, which is due to congestion on my cabinet. This is common in rural areas where old ADSL1 cabinets are still served by copper, not modern fibre, thus they do not have enough bandwidth to serve the entire street adequately.

However I do get ~7mbps during the day, which tells me that otherwise my internet is functioning fine. If I was getting <4mbps in the morning on a weekday, with no downloads running and connected via Ethernet cabling (the oversized telephone cables) I'd be concerned.

you are pretty damn close to the cabinet because you have exellent attenuation, and its connected pretty much as fast as you can for an ADSL1 connection.

Have your tried a speed test over something other than wifi on your phone? try using a computer connected with an ethernet cable for instance and see what you get.

Looks like you're in a pocket of no RBI coverage, according to the map. Yep, looks like you're right - it is what it is.

Yeah I have done a speed test with my laptop plugged directly into the router with a network cable. I can't do that often as it's in my landlords house, and he is over the whole interweb testing thing.... Lol

Was exactly the same.

Even tried a different router, was the same...

Oh well, might as well cancel the netflix account.
