I would avoid them on principle after their door-knocking salesperson was super aggressive, told me things that weren't correct, and then implied that I was not very bright because I preferred to stay with my current provider.

I switched from Trustpower to Flick Electric - $80/mo saving in power. I now pay vastly under this for broadband at 200/200Mbit (when I say vastly I mean often my bills come out at $20-40/mo due to referrals) therefore I get free broadband by moving to Flick Electric.
Trustpower is bloody expensive and their broadband product isn't even good. I'm not going to plug who I recommend here however FF is vastly better than Trustpower Broadband.

myfullflavour: I'm bias, but I think while the regional ISPs aren't going to be making their owners millions of dollars every year, they'll continue to be profitable as the majority of the bottom line comes from providing great service to local businesses, that isn't easily available from larger telcos.
RSP's are wholesalers, pure and simple. That comes down to support and bandwidth provided to the users. If you provide enough bandwidth, then all is good, but who does this consistently?
