I sure hope someone out there can help me. I have an HP IPAQ 1945. I have loved it since day one, and have not had any problems. My husband bought a new computer, with XP Professional, and I am trying to transfer all of my business to this new computer. I installed Active Sync 3.7.1 and reinstalled again and again. I cannot get the handheld and the PC to communicate. (Syncs perfectly with other computer) I have followed all of the troubleshooting steps including disabling firwall and antivirus software. I have verified, in device manager, that the cable is fine. It is list ed in device manager as Windows CE USB Device. Active Sync Get cConnected shows that USB as available, and won't connect. There is no partnership. Did I miss a step? I simply reran the install disk that came with the hand helt. I upgraded Outlook as required. I am soooo stuck! I have been working at this for a month. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How are you connecting the USB cable to your computer? Directly or through a USB HUB? The cradle and USB HUBs don't go alone very well, because of power supply.

I am connecting the USB directly to the computer. There are about 6 USB ports on this new computer. I may be connecting to a HUB. Under Device manager there does not seem to be a USB port, listed under the COM1 and COM2 root. Is this the problem? My husband bought this system off of Ebay. He did alot of research and paid a good amount of money. I am not as computer literate as I thought. Should we contact the seller? Will the Active Sync not work if it connects via a hub? HUB? Can I easily detemine if there is a USB port available?

Thanks!!!
