Hi There!

I am curious to know if any of you bought this, or pledged and have been making use of early access? The concept seems amazing, and the creator has created many games I hold in the highest regard.

Price is about to go up, and I am trying to decide if I should jump now (I only really want the single player campaign), there seems no indication when this game might ever be finished!

Thoughts?

I'm firmly in the "at best it's going to be a turd released late to at worst it's an outright scam" camp.

I wouldn't pay a cent until after release.

Then why bother replying to the thread adding nothing of value?

I pledged when it was on kickstarter, but haven't really looked into it much since then.

Should really get onto it :-)

I wouldn't pay anything, they've taken so much already it's incredible.

From what I understand they've done a lot of finishing work before the actual game, ie fancy videos with actors like Gary Oldman.

I backed Elite Dangerous and you can play that today, I'm quite happy with what they delivered for so much less.

Would not be surprised if the Star Citizen project just falls apart.

Same. I played the dog fighting thingy when it was first released (almost impossible to do with keyboard\mouse, I found xbox controller better, but I think it would work best with one of those HOTAS setups - no way I'm paying for one of those just for one game though)

Haven't really looked into it since... I guess I should.

Thought about it, but was concerned the project may not complete, or not complete to the quality I'd expect for the price. So I'd rather pay the higher price, once I know it's good, than gamble the lower price when they're still fairly up in the air.

Research indicates similar, I think I'll wait it out.

I purchased a ship package not long after it was 1st announced. Just waiting for the release later this year. Haven't played the beta yet.

I did, have 2 ships, also in alpha and have to say I do like it.

All up i am about $300US in.

I have been able to fly my main ship and I also stole someone else's ship in the alpha (hide in his ship, when he went for a space walk on a space station I closed the airlock jumped into the cockpit and took off in his ship and jumped to another station).  He must have seen me as he logged off (which removed his ship as i was in it and had to restart the game).

I could not stop laughing as he would have seen his ship leaving without him.

I read in the new last night that they've decided to split this into two games now?

No idea of the implications but it sounds ominous, like before Admiral Akbar attacks the death star....its a trap.

The single player campaign Squadron 42 and the online Persistent Universe will be separate, which for people that don't want to play online it will probably be better for them.

Now that they have a small portion of the Universe available to play online already, over the next 12 months it's going to be pretty exciting.

For the person that said Elite Dangerous is finished, I really find that game boring and I sometimes feel disconnected from everything.
