I see the new Saints Row is out in August, that should be a bit of fun.

So Gamespot did a preview. It seems a little less over the top than 4, but they say that shooting feels a bit off due to over-sensitive analog controls without adjustability, and the health system that requires regeneration by special kills that you can't do until you've done general combat to build up the ability, mean that the game could feel quite a grind at times. There are lots of cool-looking things like Wing Suits and the driving seems to be reasonably controlled, so that is good.

Seems a shame about the controls for shooting though, perhaps it will just be fine depending on your skill levels.

I hate that I am still deep into Destiny 2. They've really nailed the FOMO of this game, enjoyable as all hell gunplay mechanics and the lore insane (even I don't know 99% of it because of this idiotic removal of story content), but they need to figure out a way whereby not playing for a couple weeks doesn't mean you miss out on stuff.

D2 doesn't really have a single-player campaign right? It's online only?

Geektastic: Sniper Elite 5

Not sure it’s as good as 4.

Having played it for a couple of hours last night, whilst the graphics are better, I agree, it feels a lot harder to stealth stuff.  I will have another go tonight, but if it's not significantly better I'll probably skip the rest of it.

I find the objectives system confusing, and it all seems like 1 big mission with large open areas to cover where you can be spotted at any time :)

My gameplay experience is exactly the same as yours. All it takes is a mere glance of a youtube video about god-roll Austringer crafting and I'm back at it yet again. Sigh.....

Ugh, yeah Austringer is the next one for me to craft and level up. I've crafted a god tier Hollow Denial which is just absolute money with Void Warlock, volatile rounds everywhere! My Calis Mini Tool with enhanced candescent absolutely wrecks with Solar Titan and I am looking for that perfect roll with Headstone from the Solstice hand cannon to go with my Hunter Stasis build, Austringer levelling is in there somewhere after Tears of Contrition gets to level 16.

Don't sleep on Austringer if you play any Crucible. It's very good!

I’ve pretty much exhausted all the games I want to play on PS5 - so I investigated iPad games. Found a terrific little game called Dungeons of Dreadrock. It’s 100 levels of single-screen puzzles in the form of a dungeon crawler.

The puzzles are really well thought out - some are extremely tricky and not at all easy. Each one should theoretically take only a minute or two - but some can actually take 10-20 minutes.

It’s free with ads but I paid $3.50 to get rid of them. A bit fiddly to play using the on-screen D-pad so I paired my PS5 Dual Sense controller and it’s great. I’m up to L20 and overall it’s only a few hours of play but a lot of fun.

Geektastic: Sniper Elite 5

Not sure it’s as good as 4.

I thought I had exhausted all the PS4 and PS5 games that interest me - then remembered a couple of guys here on GZ had mentioned Sniper Elite. A month or so ago I started SE4 and loved it - stealth is very much my type of game. My ageing twitch reflexes are not so good for fast-action, run-and-gun stuff.

Just finished SE4 and a now couple of days into SE5. Really enjoying that too. I find it better than SE4 in some ways - not as good in others. In both games the enemy AI is a bit patchy - sometimes clever and relentless - other times just dumb. However most games of this type are like that.

One thing that’s great about these games is they are rock-solid - never had one glitch in SE4 and SE5 is shaping up the same. Sensible, simple controls (and IMO SE5 improves on SE4 in this regard) and there’s great auto-save plus you can manually save whenever you damn’ well like. Many games don’t allow manual saves which can be frustrating.

Really good-looking, well-made games. Sometimes they might feel slightly repetitive but on the whole they are great games - within their fairly narrow genre.

Just started playing Dying Light 2, how are there this many bugs in a 10 month old game?

Gameplay wise it's enjoyable, the physics are really weird though, the graphics are gorgeous and it's nice to see a huge improvement from a voice acting standpoint. The story however is really bland, I don't care about the characters and some of the writing is all over the place.

Enjoyable and will stick with it.

I managed to get a godroll BXR drop of incandescent and demo so don't need to farm the red border. The plunder weapons though? Bungie need to sort their bullsht RNG out.

Yes, the drops for plunder weapons are just atrocious! Might be lucky if I have one pattern unlocked for the season of plunder weapon

I am disappointed to see that God of War was put on sale early and that many people are taking advantage to play it early and post spoilers online.

I tried to play Persona 5 Royal over the weekend after seeing the reviews for it. I can't really get into the art style, the horribly awkward voice acting, or dialogue, but am trying to persist despite it feeling like every other JRPG I haven't been able to get into. Someone said it gets good after 10 hours, but that seems a hell of a long time to need to get used to something.
