gehenna: I find the map and tracking quests to be cumbersome and annoying. Combat is also repetitive. Exploration is fun and the castle is incredibly cool. But so far my moral code remains intact from being a couple of steps removed from JK Rowling. Thank goodness I have so many people outraged on my behalf, if really frees up the time to enjoy the content.
I have been enjoying it more as I have gone along. Read a tip and thought I'd share it here. Play with headphones on. The Aural queues are quite significant and despite having a very good audio system in the lounge, it's significantly better with headphones.
Also, in case anyone hasn't figured it out yet, if you cast reveleo and you hear a ding, that means there is something to be found nearby.
Enjoying the puzzles, and the quality of everything. Despite not being a Potter fan, so far it hasn't really created a disconnect, and I am not feeling transphobic or anything else phobic as a result of the game. I haven't felt outraged once.
This morning I walked past a games store in a big shopping mall here in Spain. Big display of Hogwarts Legacy in the windows, so popped in for a look. Priced at €75 > NZ$131. I’m guessing that store would be very similar to EB Games in NZ - where the price is $120.
I think we do fairly well being able to buy it at JB for $99.
I noticed that the new Dead Space was the same price.

More like “What game are you not playing right now” - Sid Meier’s Railroads, which has just been released for iPad and iPhone.

Way back in the day (1994) I used to love Transport Tycoon Deluxe on my PC. SMR would be quite similar and I’m sure I would like it - if it worked. I’m away from home for a few months and missing my PS5 so I thought this could be a bit of a tide-over on my iPad - but sadly not to be.
Chris Sawyer and Microprose made some great games back then.

Railroads is one of my favourite gams of all time. I am so happy they made a mobile version of it. Pricey at $20 for a mobile app, but seems pretty much feature identical to the actual full PC game. Can't wait to have more of a play with it.
Had a bit of a brain explosion over the PSVR2. Saw the reviews, which showed it addressed many of the issues I had with the PSVR1. Got it $100 off. It's certainly more simple to plugin and get working and more immersive, though not many games as yet.
Unfortunately, Ironman doesn't look like it will make the cut and be ported over. That is a lot of fun.
As a result, I have my PSVR1 for sale, ping me if you are interested.
Recently picked up a ps5 finally (and much to wife’s disappointment) so starting HZD again to play through before getting the new one, very imprs with the new controllers so far, after playing games recently on the series X this is light years ahead

Of course YMMV but you may wish to be wary - given my experience of frequent crashes, buggy interface (eg when trying to lay parallel track) then an unresolvable freeze of the map which rendered the game literally unplayable.
I too thought it was pricey but was able to get a refund. I spent quite some time trying to find industry and player reviews before buying - but there were almost none - even on the App Store. That was two days ago - maybe there are some reviews now - given that it was released only four days ago.
I will consider giving it another go much later if glitches are acknowledged and fixed via decent updates.

Did you know there is a opensource version of Transport Tycoon Deluxe?
Works on modern hardware. Worth taking a look if you have access to almost any computer....

I have been on a bit of a Resident Evil kick lately. The first RE game I played through fully was Village last year. When the remake of 4 came out recently I made it through that too and I loved it. I'd tried Biohazard a few times years ago but always found the house at the start too intense, but after finishing the other two I made it through 7 by the end of Easter too!
4, 7 and 8 are a great kind of trilogy considering 4 and Village are so similar. I will play the 2 and 3 remakes but I can already tell I won't like them as much as 4.
I've never played those RE games, the latest reviews well. I don't like scare elements in games and movies, I have been seriously considering 4. So many games! So little time.
4 is not very scary but some of it is intense in terms of the overwhelming odds. 7 and 8 definitely have their scare moments!
edit: I would be remiss not to mention the awesome fact RE7 on PS5 plays at 60fps in RT mode at 4k! RE8 performs admirably too.

Thanks - yes I saw that just a few days ago when reading-up again on these types of games. Will have a look when I return to NZ and back to my MBP.
