I am having trouble with my BT USB dongle creating a connection with my desktop.

It appears that a connection is made, it blinks green to white intermittingly but never finalizes a firm connect (thus displaying the phone with a check mark next to it.

I find that it will make this connection first thing in the morning at the office, but if I leave or disconnect, it will not reconnect at a later time.

Is there an order to reestablishing a connection?

Thanks

Hmmm. Sounds like normal behavior...

When you first pair the phone and your computer the phone icon in the Bluetooth space will have a check mark. So far so good...

If you right-click the phone icon you'll notice services the mobile offers. These are connections available to be used when your computer connects to the phone.

You can connect to one of these services manually. If you click the dial-up, a new dial-up connection will be created, and you have to enter the number you want to dial, etc, just like a normal modem... Some software will use the Serial port connection, and so on...

When the phone is out of range and come back close to your computer there'll be no automatic connection to any service, although the phone is still paired, hence the check mark still there.

The check mark I am referring to is the one shown through the phone monitor. (The one in the control panel under phone monitor, that says, “Only display when the phone is connected.”)

When this icon is displayed I can sync my outlook, send images via the serial port.

The phone and the desktop appear to be interacting back and forth but my applications do not appear to recognize the serial connection. (The COM Ports are enabled but not reserved)

I really appreciate your time and help.

Hmmm. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that sync over Bluetooth works (which is using the Sony Ericsson's own software), but other software can not use the mobile?

If this is the case, you don't need the Mobile Monitor running to actually use the Sony Ericsson's mobile phones with any other software but their own...

Have you tried adding other COM ports through the Bluetooth configuration, do a manual connect first, disconnect and then using your other software?

You may be right but I use XTNDConnect PC to sync and it has worked for me in times past. Like I mentioned before, It looks like the phone and the computer are interacting , but no firm connection is made.
