Heya. I want to have abit of fun and Create a 'game'. This game wouldnt be for sale or anything, just something simple for me to play around on and add bits to it in the future. I need software that is as basic as you get, but still with lots of things to do. I have absoloutley no knowledge in game developing.

Im after Some kind of software where i can create a character is a must (From scratch if possible), chosing from hundreds if not thousands of different colours, body weight, height etc etc. Have the character run around and do simple stuff like chop a tree or kill a monster (Which i would also design myself). I Would like to make something like WOW or Runescape (However obviously nowhere near that big). Just something that is simple and small.

Creating Characters like ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i36Qew4sKw ) this would be great and then putting them into my "game".

I Have Tried Alice, Game Maker, 3D Rad and Blender so far after my 30Mins-2Hours playing around with each trying to create people. I have found that Blender works the best for me so far, however in saying that I havent had an extent look at what they all offer (So many different options).

All help is greatly appreciated and if anybody has had any experience with any of the programmes I have used, please tell me how it was for you.

Thanks so much

Sorry if this is the wrong forum

I too have absolutely no experience in the game developing side of things, but I suggest having a look at Microsoft XNA Game Studio. I have no idea how it works, or if you need any programming skills, but I know it exists and thought I would mention it.

Hope it's of some use.

Cheers

i remember a really cool development environment, much like what you're after, but it was for the amiga many many years ago.
It was called AMOS.

The Wikipedia page on it has some information and may have links to modern compilers. There might be an active fan base still developing it - who knows?!

Hi Original Poster,

I have a perfect program for you that is easy enough for children to use yet powerful enough for a game developing company to use, and have done so in the past. It does NOT require you to have any knowledge in any programming language though if you do you can make quite complex games worthy or being sold.

Common sense is not as common as you think.
