deadlyllama: I do find it amusing to read these stories of sticking it to the man... And then giving the same man your continued business.

I’ve never bought Apple given their history of deliberately under-spec’ing, over-pricing their products.

Until this year. Why?

My distain for Google’s data harvesting of personal data outstripped my distain for Apple’s hardware greed.

So I switched to Apple (I still don’t like them, just the lesser of two evils).

Because there is only one manufacturer that makes iOS devices. So if you use that platform, they have a monopoly on the hardware, so you have no choice but to go with their devices.

It maybe a lesson to buy from a NZ retailer that has a NZ presence, instead of from them directly, as they don't seem to have a NZ presence if they had to teleconference in from overseas.

Yes, but you do have a choice when it comes to accessories such as headphones and watches. Experiences like this affect my purchasing decisions in that regard.

Well done. I have lodged a claim on PBTech now after my NAS failed twice over and just passed the warranty period and they just refuse to do anything about it under CGA. They actually do not even respond to my emails or calls for some reason!!

DT is overloaded and my hearing is in May now. I will wait as I have no choice. There is a lot of data on it and they still hold my disks and I cannot recover anything unless i get the same NAS model.
