Hi All,

Just thought I'd share my recent slingshot experience with you.

24th November I signed up for their Naked broadband plan here in Glendowie, Auckland. They double checked and it was available, so great.

After 10 working days I gave them a call, so see where we're at, as I had not heard anything, and no broadband. They told me it was prob a holdup at Telcom and should check back in a couple of days. So I did. Tha's basically the message I got in the next 2ish weeks. Then they finally told me (after I called again, even as they promised to call me as soon as they had an update) that they gave telecom the wrong address. Oh well, mistakes happens so try #2.  Same thing really, promises to be called back by their provisioning team (which I think only exists on paper, as never got a call). Even after having a good chat with "team leader" John, who said to take ownership and call me back in 2 days no matter what for an update...  no go...

So, after prob another week I heard (after me calling them of course) that there were no more available slots available in the area, so had to wait untill someone moves or cancels broadband. Got a bit frustrated here.

Just after christmas and new year, I called again as the status on my account changed (and did not hear anythying) and they told me that naked broadband was not available.  (this is about 1.5 months after my initial signing up). At this point I think I was promised to be called back about a dozen times.

So, the customer service man on the other line happily told me that a phone+broadband was still available, and he could set it up right now... how nice. I told him I'd expect some form of compensation first, as their track record so far was not good. He really wanted to sign me up first, and then it would be sorted out, but I was not going to fall for that. He was going to ask his team leader and was going to be called back (and of course I told him that I was not quite convinced it was going to happen, and surprise surprised it did indeed not happen.

So I called back today for the last time. Explained the whole thing AGAIN, and got a lot of understanding (as they do...), but the best they could do was give me one month free, which was a pretty damn good deal he said.  I was willing to sign up, with no free nothing, when they waived the 12 month contract as I just completely lost trust win their willingness to help a customer. This was not possible for a whole bunch of reasons so I am now still without broadband and joining with xnet :)

Oh, the last guy also told me that "we never call people back at slingshot"  that kinda did it for me...

So I thought this might help anyone who is thinking of signing up with slingshot, but not sure.. DO NOT DO IT!!!!  Even my friends who are one it say the service is ok, but customer service is diabolical.  I never got any call/email or anything from them during my signing up time. Even their team leader promised but did not do it.

I honestly have NEVER experienced such a bad customer service.

xnet was very very helpfull on the phone. Even gave me his direct number so I did not have to explain myself again when I was ready to sign up.  Hopefully they can deliver.

Cheers
Johan

I had a similar experience last year when Telecom big time was ending

I signed up for Slingshots' broadband/phone Better home bundle as the website test said it was available in my area. After giving all my details over the phone, I was told that it was all set, I need not do anything and it would be connected in 5-7 days.

Like you, I didn’t hear anything for 2 weeks and then I got a letter stating that I was connected to a cabinet and could not get the better home bundle.

Two months on I got a call from Slingshot. They told me this story about how there was an error with their system and I could in fact get the better home bundle that I had originally wanted.
Great -I thought. So I go ahead and confirm that it is okay for them to move me across to their network, (they record the conversation) they tell me again 5-7 days.
2 weeks later - no contact and still wasn't changed over.

Its at this point I refuse to even consider their services.  I rang them and told them to cancel my account.

Then I got a call out of the blue a few weeks later from Slingshot, more errors in their system they tell me, my broadband application was rejected because an account was made in my name the first time I tried to sign up.

They told me that my original request was rejected by the wholesaler due to lack of information, but if I supply my ASID # i can apply again, which is just laughable.

Because they took so long I missed the opportunity to disconnect from Telecom for free so I'm currently riding out my 12months waiting for 'the next big thing' which is definitely not a service from Slingshot.

Last year I decided to save some money and change my broadband and phone over to Slingshot, we rang and they sorted it out, we didn't hear anything from them for a good week so we rang and nothing had happened they blamed the CSR that set it up, so we set it up again, waited another week without service and their system wouldn't process the change over, this was the same for the future month.  So 1 and a half months of waiting and we were getting charged for the phone and broadband when we were not getting any service.
I eventually rand them and said cancel everything your too damn slow, and if you try and charge us a termination fee I won't pay it since we never received any service,  so we get our bill and there is 2 months of broadband and phone and a contract termination fee on there, about a month later we get another bill and it had $0.00...

I will never go with slingshot again.

Sorry to hear about your terrible experience.

I had one too - it made me feel so angry that I felt I had to do something in response.

So I made a website describing the whole thing: A Slingshot Customer's Experience ( http://slingshot.org.nz/ ).

Just a 30 min wait for an answer today. First time I got hung up on but only was waiting 5 so I guess I should feel happy and lucky?

Love it when they hang up on me. Did the robot tell you to call back during office hours?

It was Morse code for ... lol - lol - lol

I would need hospital care, if they answered within a 5 minute time frame.

Well I rung the other day (finding out how long left on my contract.....) and it had a call back service where you leave your number and they ring you back, or I could wait approx 3 min for an answer.  I waited and in 3 mins they answered.

Have they changed? If so well done!
