Nah not using SMB yet, so I might as well upgrade. Do you have to put all your settings in again, or does it keep them during the upgrade?

For me, it kept all of the settings. I just went to the upgrade section, did a check for new updates and allowed it to update. No manual downloading of files required, very easy.

Here's what my 7390 says when I went to the upgrade page... it can't find an update. Seems strange, since it's v5 and v6 is out.

The firmware is the FRITZ!Box software. The following firmware version is currently installed on your FRITZ!Box:
FRITZ!OS 05.51
Firmware version: 84.05.51
No firmware was found that is newer than the installed version.

sidefx:
timmmay: So should people on UFB upgrade to the new firmware? I'm on 05.22 I think.

I think it's only some people on dsl ( particularly vdsl) that have seen issues with upgrading from .22. Either drops in sync rates, losing the ability to change target snrm or at worst i think some people (hio?)couldn't sync even after re-downgrading and needed a port reset. That was all vdsl connections so i think you should be ok to upgrade on ufb, the only other issue i think i've heard of is that smb access is messed up if you're using the nas\hdd\usb port on fritzbox

I think for a couple of months I will go the "If it aint broke , don't fix it" route.

There seems to be nothing in V6 that I need, especially the grief some users are having

Ditto - I wondered if I was looking in the wrong place, but I have exactly the same current firmware.

What's the story?

My 7340 seems to have lost its ability to do anything in the telephone number configuration pages, with everything just putting a red box with this in it when even trying to delete my now non registring lines in there.

Cant add a new one, cant delete what is there, cant edit them - all have that same error.

Also the lack of a capital T on telephone numbers in the tab at the top shows that there was probably no quality control put into this page.

Edit: actually just looked at what it updated me to and it is 6.01 - nothing newer showing when I press the update button.

FYI: If you are on VDSL and have a Broadcom cabinet, DO NOT UPGRADE.

Just thought I should mention that, tested with 7340, no sync whatsoever.

Go to `Internet`->`DSL Information` and if under the DSL Exchange picture it has Broadcom, then you are connected to a Broadcom cabinet.

Ok, well I have an ikanos so I guess I am safe, but the fritz also threw me this gem of an error when I was trying to restart it to see if that helped me.

I made the mistake of upgrading to 6.03 as a result of the security notice..

Was VDSL on a Broadcom line card. Now using internet via my mobile...

Some things of note.. Upgrade wizard didn't report any upgrade so I just used the 6.03 image.. Perhaps that should have been my first warning sign. Wish I'd taken a look at here at that point.

Upgrade seemed fine but now can't get DSL sync.

Did a factory reset in case it was some hangover in settings.. Despite choosing NZ as the location I still get no sync.

Trying to do a recovery to 5.51 now but no dice.. My PC blew up last week and my Win7 VM doesn't seem to be able to connect.

Will call Snap but thinking this is going to be busted until I get my hands on a loaner laptop.

My upgrade seems to be ok so far (Fritz!box 7360 on Snap VDSL, was on 111.05.51), other than my line attenuation going up  - increased from 6db to 15db (think someone has pointed out elsewhere that this calculation is odd), no change to sync speed ~33000kbps

Haven't found any downgrade firmware for 7360 on AVM site or elsewhere - specially a .22 version.

If you have the 7340 I have the 5.22 image as it seems AVM no longer allow you to download those images.

If you have the 7390 follow this link to the BETA firmware (no promises on providing a fix).

thats a MASSIVE rise in downstream attenuation, thats a bit more than the 1~3 seen on 5.51+ firmwares...
