out of curiosity, i wondered if different name server on ns2/ns3 compared to ns1. it seems that ns1 is older version of bind - 9.7.0-P1 and ns2,ns3 are 9.8.1-P1.

Changed DNS servers just now and will see how it goes.

****UPDATE****

The problems of slow or non loading sites still occur after changing the DNS servers to those suggested by 'The Ralph'. The main sites that I constantly have issue with are Facebook, Youtube (wont play video's), Geekzone/Forums and Google+

I also have the added problem of not being able to resolve any sites at all if I turn off IPv6.

All of these problems have only been evident for about 3 days. Everything before that was fine.

Have you tried changing to Google or OpenDNS name servers? To me OpenDNS seems to work quite a lot better than Snap's servers.

Ah yes, that is a good reason.

But will test with OpenDNS and hope that Snap fixes its DNS servers (or I hear their "fix" works for others).

Was just getting too frustrating using the internet here with DNS failing time and time again.

I'm using the following for v4 and v6 DNS and haven't noticed any DNS problems:

ipv6_dns=2406:e000::100 2406:e000::200 2001:4860:4860::8888
wan_dns=202.37.101.1 202.37.101.2 8.8.8.8

wan_dns=202.37.101.1 202.37.101.2 8.8.8.8

considering the fallback to google dns, probably covering failures..

Chrome: Version 32.0.1700.107 m - already have DNS prefetch turned off.
It also happens in Mozilla and also IE.

The difficulty for me is that I have a couple of extra layers in my connection to the net due to running a SNAP test bench here which is also connected to another layer back at SNAP. Changes I make at this end therefore may have no bearing on what I end up with.

I'm still getting the slow site loads this morning with some sites timing out.

how do you generate those cjm? can you break down to dns, first byte loaded etc?

fwiw, i used to do testing with google chrome, and i found some sites didn't seem to reload reliably on telstarclear and xtra, but i also found some modems bug out if you request too many pages such as when benchmarking 20 sites 10 times each. from memory though it tended to be ad and cdn type things.
